Anyhow, moving on from the knobbery.

Bower is a terrible loss especially after Walker, good chance for the likes of Chris Johnson (*shudder*) to prove their worth.. It's a shame my boy Marcus Davies hasn't strung together a few more solid VFL performances. He'll get there though, I have faith.

It shows how much better shape our back line is in this year though, last year this would've been crucifying.

I heard it too, but I wouldn't read into much at all....

I'd say there's a good chance Emu won't play, but I doubt it's another 4 week quad injury. Probably just pulled up a bit sore from last week.

Sam Lane probably read it on Bigfooty.

I don't think it will be much of a problem either... BUT I also think T-bird is going to need to have a positive impact on the game.
We managed to beat Geelong without Bower in the side.

Not so much about being adequate but the roll he plays. Bower plays and Waite is free to play as a rebounding defender or up forward. Thornton doesn't have to play tall and can play the general role.

Not sure what games you've been watching? Bower's two games this year were both quality. Far above Waite's level.

Walker was a big blow, but we do have similar options to cover for him. Bower we do not.

Not so sure about that. Though if Walker and Austin are both fit and playing good footy, he might struggle to get a game.

That said, he's still got at least a further two years on the list as a depth player if he is pushed out. Be pretty handy to have a depth player of Thornton's quality after what we've had to rely on in previous years.

And? I was stating that he's a better fringe 22 player than what we've had n the past.

Can't win a flag without a list 30 deep capable of playing and competing well at AFL level. Thornton is/will be one of those 30.
 
kosi is really their only taller forward line type at the moment, unless i'm forgetting someone. one of the other ruckman perhaps, or goddard if he plays forward but you wouldn't really think of him as tall. you don't want to lose a player (let alone for a few weeks) but tall backmen aren't needed so desperately this round. it's the smaller forwards like schneider, milne, mcqualter, we really need to shut down.
