Franklin's hit was a lot later than Chapman's though. Also of course he needs to jump to bump he's only 176 cm tall...

Why did he do it? Why would he want to put himself (and the team) in this position in the first place? So frustrating. The bump is DEAD, why is it some players cant, won't accept this? My god this frustrates the hell out of me. This may cost us a GF berth..

They just said on 3AW that the Port medical report will be very favourable for Chapman. Should get low impact and it will depend on the other gradings as to whether he gets a reprimand or not.

If he gets Low Impact he'll end up with a reprimand.

Here are some relevant parts of the Guidelines on Impact:

In determining the level of impact, regard will be had to the extent
of force and in particular, any injury sustained by the player who was
offended against. Regard will also be had to the potential to cause injury.
For example, contact to the head will generally have more impact than
contact to the body if the force used is similar.

In addition to the effect on the victim player, the body language
of the offending player in terms of flexing, turning, raising or
positioning the body to either increase or reduce the force of
impact, will be taken into account.

The absence of injury does not
preclude the classification of impact as severe.

If that happens to be his last game this year will he be given another contract?

We are premiership material next year and I hope they give him another year. If they don't every club close to a premiership would be drooling and falling over each other to grab him. Just a formality to sign him up next year surely.

I'd say so, yes.

If Zac Dawson was cleared then why should Chapman even get one week.

Franklin was assessed as negligent, medium impact and high contact. In Chapman's case the contact was clearly high, but while he did get off the ground when making contact, Franklin made contact a little later so you would think that Chapman would also be assessed as negligent. The crucial assessment will be whether impact was low or medium. Low impact would give him 125 demerit points that would be reduced to 70 points with reduction for guilty plea and good record. Medium impact would give him 225 demerit points that would be reduced to 126 points for guilty plea and good record.

Didn't look like there was that much force to me so low impact is a possibility but who knows with the AFL Tribunal these day???
