while i regard haselby as one of freos top notch players (you dont have to try too hard to fit into that category at freo) i wouldnt want to get him as hes 28yo if he was 5 years younger than yeh i'd have a look.
 
if we were in a position similar to 2004 than yeah i'd thnk the club would be very interested in him. but we aren't, so despite being a quality player, he's definately not a guy we'd be interested in.

i reckon a club like collingwood could go after him (assuming he is considering leaving fremantle)

He doesn't have anything to offer us. We already have Priddis in that role and i don't think the young guys would learn all that much from Hasleby. Its all very speculative anyway, Hasleby's manager is just playing games so that his client gets a longer contract extension. He'll get 2 years with a pay cut and all of this will blow over.
 
I agree with the too old factor, he is uber talented and Id love to all ready have him on the list but if we had to trade a high draft pick for him it would be counter productive. Besides Fremantle are much more enclined to keep him on there list then any club would be to get him, he is worth allot more to Freo then anyone else IMO.

If he was 26 he would get allot of attention from allot of clubs, still too old for us though unforunately.

Irrelevant, He wont go anywhere.

As of today, he would be beneficial to us as Kerr is injured. A solid player and I dont think any person could logically say he would add nothing to their team.

If he was available in '05, maybe. But to see success in the short term from here on in(ie GF appearance within 10 years), we need to bottom out and draft young talent.
 
It would be unusual and most likely not going to happen, but i certainly think it wouldn't be a waste. 2 years from now, we could easily be challenging for a flag... with a midfield of Kerr, Masten, Hasleby, Cox, Nait + Lucas, Schuey, Swift, Ebert - we would get plenty of ball, have excellent distribution and have the big game xp to make it count.

Paul Hasleby is sh*t- I wouldn't even trade pick 70 for him.
No way- if Paul Hasleby is unhappy about a new contract at Fremantle then maybe Paul Hasleby has over rated his own value- would be stu*pid of any club to trade anything under pick 70 for him.

I would have thought Peter Bell would have got tagged before Haselby.

Also what he did years ago is hardly as significant as his current form.

This year when hes had a hard tag on him he gets locked down.
 
They're offering him a one year deal, what's wrong with that? If he plays well enough he'll get another one, you would think.

If he gets injured and can't play past a year then why should the footy club take the risk they'd have to keep paying him for clogging up a spot on their list?

If he just wants a bit more cash, I can understand that.

Agree what your saying makes good sense and I think he will take the deal, but first he`s just throwing the idea out there and see if he can get some bargaining power to take to the table.

I would like to change what I said before.
Paul Hasleby for pick 100

No I think we could do better- Paul hasleby for pick 100 in the rookie draft.

Better again-Fremantle should give us a draft pick for us taking Paul Hasleby for free.

Better again- Fremantle must give us there draft picks and also remove the mantl letters from there name which then we will be calling them free.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
