He wont be at WCE in 2005.
I'm amazed we even recruited him to be honest Yakuza. His style of game never suited large open grounds. I do agree on the size issue, a lot of junior footballers stand out due to physical superiority at a relatively young age.

In the sun it was a trade teaser Johsnon for Mark Williams. It said we needed another small forward after matera retires (sampi anyone?). What do you guys think?

Not sure what a Bulldogs fan is doing posting about a Hawk's player on an Eagle's board but here goes.

Williams shouldn't be picked up if it's to fill a small forward need. He isn't much when the ball hits the ground. Gets high majority of his goals by being exceptional for his size overhead and a decent lead, which he converts well.

Could be part of the Stenglein deal...

Pick 12 and Johnson to Hawthorn
Pick 4 to Adelaide
Stenglein to Eagles?

Pick 12 is too much for Stenglein let alone pick 4.

Hell yeah- if Hawthorn were silly enough to hand over pick #4 then we find another way to get Stenglein and say hello to Lance Franklin!

Yeh, but you'll pay AT LEAST that. Suck it.

Doubt it, but if we do thanks for the development work you guys have done with Stenglein. You never know you might pick up another star like Angwin with that pick.

Doubt it? Obviously you know nothing about your Eagles administratrion, because pick 12 is already on the table, and maybe even Cox (with a little sweetener attached to Stenglein).

Trouble is there are no sweeteners Adelaide could provide that would make trading Cox taste less sour.
If you want pick 12 you can have it, I'm sure you would prefer to draft your own dud or trade it for a has been than let someone else make fools of you.

Several of the other Clubs were amazed too that WCE took him with their first pick. It's great having the benefit of hindsight but when you consider that it was common knowledge that he was big, slow and dumb and Jared Rivers went 2 picks later you have to wonder about their wisdom or rather lack of it!

Are you going to hijack every ********ing thread with your bollocks?

You know all this about the Eagles Administration how? Because it was written in the Adelaide Advertiser?

Please

He's gutted that Stinger wants to come back to civilisation and that West Coast will rape them at the trade table in a few weeks time so this is a way in which to let out his frustration.
Funny how the player in question goes from a being a solid quality player and future leader of a club to "solid but not that great". Are you trying to convince us of that or convince yourself so that it doesnt hurt as much when the inevitable happens?

In fairness to spindoctor, I don't think he ever claimed Stenglein to be the star player his colleagues on the Adelaide board did.
You are correct about him being bitter though. When one of the few decent players in your list decides to jump ship it can be disheartening, especially when all you have left are geriatrics, hacks and unproven kids.

And that Jibber Jabber is the most intelligent post that you have ever made!
Yeh that's not hard though, he doesn't exactly rank very well in terms of intelligence. He thinks I'm bitter Stenglein is leaving, when honestly I couldn't care less, I'm sure pick 12 will probably get us a better player. Stenglein's role ain't that difficult - as long as the player we pick with 12 is tough, we'll probably end up ahead.

For someone who couldnt care less about Stenglein leaving you seem to have a very high opinion of what he is worth and what Adelaide should get for him.

Actually I don't have a high opinion of what he is worth, check my past posts and I've never made a real effort to talk him up, except that he is good at clearances and a good defensive midfielder - which WCE don't have. He is not indispensable and he is certainly no star.

But Adelaide will get at least pick 12 for him, it is on the table already, so we win in that trade.

I agree.. he is overrated.... but what it shows is how poor a side Adelaide have that they want him to be their next captain.

As well as the lack of wisdom on behalf of AFL recruiters at 14 other AFL clubs.

Very little difference between the side we have now and the one that thrashed your pathetic outfit in the 2003 Elim Final. Some old hack called Wayne Carey gathered 21 possessions in that match. Must have been a pretty mediocre defense that let him get away with that in a final. Guess it must be the same defense that got humbled by over 100 points by the Saints this season. Hmmmm.

So we get to pick a random game to judge a team by? Wonderful, I think I'll pick a more recent one, specifically Round 17 at the Gabba this season, and a certain bunch of hacks getting pumped by the LARGEST MARGIN OF ANY SIDE OF THE LAST 15 YEARS!

Ahem.

Ah Adelaide, you've got to love them. 16th in kicks, 14th in disposals, 15th in marks, 14th in tackles, 11th in goals scored, 9th in goals conceded- quite staggering that a team could be so overwhelmingly bad at all facets of the game.

I'd rather lose to Brisbane by 141 points than St Kilda by 101 points.

Really? Actually I'd rather win 4 of our last 5 against the reigning premiers, giving us by far the best record of any side in the competition versus Brisbane during that period.
