Paul Roos - The Irony!!!

This whole situation is nothing compared to the farce of 2005?

What farce you ask?

Well mid season Swans looked shizenhousen and in a press conference Demetriou talked about how the Swans may need priority picks over and above what you get from being shithouse, like we were in 2005-6. Never mind that they changed the rules to limit our PP picks when we were so shithouse.

So on goes Roos and Demetriou for a mid ranking team talking of special handouts just because the Swans are an important market.

never mind they won the premiership.

As soon as that Club drops out of the 8, they'll make up and find new ways to rort the system to keep the Swans afloat.

I hate the Swans and wish theyd just shut up and rot.

I was a leg spinner in my youth, but this ball, I'm pushing off the fence.

I have listened to Smith, Bartlett and Denham slander my club. I've just listened to Wilson slander my club. Roos, the dill, the deflector hypocritically lecturing us is another in a long line of slanderers.

I've had enough.

Not one shred of proof. Not one ounce of evidence.

All they have is columns to clot and airwaves to spam.

But they give voice to all the haters.

Somehow Richmond were crap, but Carlton were tanking.
Somehow Carlton were tanking, but Collingwood 2005 was an aberration.
Somehow St Kilda were congenitally average, but Carlton were tanking
Somehow Hawthorn were useless but Carlton were tanking.
Somehow Carlton were tanking but Melbourne can pick and choose which season they do well and which they don't.

These pathetic tapeworms have managed to ignore the history of the AFL's compromised draft pick system and have narrowed the focus to our club. Our club that happens to be the proudest, most successful, least tolerant of failure club known to this competition.

Thankfully I'm not one of the movers and shakers that run the place because I would be costing us an absolute fortune in QC fees.

I have one request to make of all you libellous mung beans:
Put up or shut up.

Exactly. Watch the crowds fall away when the Swans start to drop away from the top echelon of the competition. It's why they seem to take established players more often than not in trade week.

They've actually got some proof, albeit hearsay that they were told not to go for goal, yet nothing of the sort was ever discussed about yet we copped it end to end in the media

All this slanderous allegation towards us gives me the ____'s . I really believe we lost fair and square last year.:D:D:D

He needs to look at what he said now, and when he has, he can eat his own words. If we tanked ( and i really believe we didn't ), at least we did it in the H/A season not the NAB cup! Paul Roos, you make football ugly, tosser!

I want to hear what Roos has to say about it all...

"We didnt cheat, unlike Carlton last year... we were just not good enough on the day and for some reason, but boys thought I meant dont kick goals, when the dont was actually directed at one of the players engaging in a bit of horseplay during my speach to the boys."

first class glove puppet for Fat Andrew...

In all fairness, Roos made these comments back in October, no need to continue to bitch about them.

The only thing current about this issue, is that we can now sit back and enjoy watching Roos face similar tanking allegations.

In tomorrow's paper Ratten will be quoted as saying that Roos on the sideline, in earshot of AFL officials and supporters in the crowd instructing a player not to kick a goal is 'the ugly side of football we don't need' :D

He has also made comments in todays paper, about the afl turning a blind eye towards Carlton.

There was a lot of speculation and banter going around last year with Carlton,'' Roos said. "Forget what I think, though, I think there's been a fair bit of surprise in the general public and media (that the AFL is investigating Sydney in the NAB Cup but turned a blind eye to Carlton).''

Daily telegraph, today.

Cheers :thumbsu:

That comment was more about deflecting guilt from himself as opposed to taking a pot shot at Carlton, which Caro didn't miss the opportunity to do yesterday:

Much more malicious and deserving of our ire

I guess now that Pagan and Mitchell are gone (and she can no longer regurgitate that article every fortnight) she'll now use the alleged tanking issue as the story she'll write once at the beginning of the season and re-hash every fortnight throughout the season.

When will she just fully shrivel up already so we don't have to have put up with her Wallace loving prune of a face anymore?

I wouldnt fan the flames on either the main or bay 13 boards about this. Every ****ing week some dopey moron starts a "Carlton are shit/cheating/tanking scum" thread and when asked to prove it they fail miserably and deflect the issue.

I personally dont give a crap what Paul Roos did or didnt say, however if opposition supporters are going to get so self righteous about it there is no longer just Carlton as a target. Though in hindsight many teams have fielded less than full strength teams when it becomes obvious they are not going to make the finals.

Lets be honest we are copping the salary cap cheats and tankers label because we are Carlton, thats it. I refuse to believe the average poster on bay 13 can be so morally correct.

Would it be against AFL rules to ask players like say Chris Tarrant to ry to kick a goal. Surely Tarrant must be on the take or under instructions. Nobody could kick that poorly for goal and remain an AFL player and a forward no less

I think what Paul Roos said in October is exactly right - the prospect of tanking is the ugly side of football. It is irrelevant if Carlton was or was not tanking, a system that rewards a team for losing is fundamentally compromised. Clearly this worked to our advantage last year so if we were tanking we were taking advantage of a rule but it is the rule that is the problem, not us for taking advantage of it. Equally, if Roos told his guys to lose in a NAB cup match then fair enough. If he thinks that the best preparation for his team is to lose that game to avoid the mindless interchange rule then I think it is fine that he instructs players to lose. I think the AFL need to consult more and dictate less, if they asked the clubs about either the relevance of NAB cup or the priority pick rule, neither Carlton nor Sydney would have had to face any claims.
