Paul Roos is coaching his last season for the Sydney Swans. Ratten in my opinion is not quiet up to it as a senior coach. I say bring down Paul Roos, give him a 2 year deal as head coach and have Ratten as assistant. Let Ratten learn from the best and then return as head coach.

Roos has said on many ocassions that he will not be a career coach, and that once he finishes his time at Sydney, then that will be the end of his coaching career.

Please tell me your joking. Most weekends I watch 7 games of football. The 1 I refuse to watch is the 1 involving the Swans. While his coaching methods may have delivered a flag, it reduces the game as a spectacle. If there were any first time AFL watches in the crowd last weekend, do you think they would have walked away thinking highly of this great game.

This IS true. I don't watch Swans games for the same reason, unless they're playing the Blues.

This year is a huge test for Ratten, and I'm sure he knows it. Deserves our 110% support though. We'll have a better idea by years end whether he'll be the lucky coach taking us to flags 17-20.

My only criticism is that he seems a bit too reactionary at times i.e. too worried about opposition tactics, and not creative enough. He really struggles against the AFL's heavy-duty ultraflooders - Swans, and Crows. Malthouse also beat him tactically with an ugly ultraflood in the last Blues V Failurewood game.

Would like to see him take the opposition on a bit more.

In all seriousness Ratts is fine for the moment. Since he's be in charge we have progressed up the ladder and we did make the finals last season for the first time in whatever.

How about we see how we go this season before auditioning for a new coach.

But, but, but........they have The Lexus Centre, a heap of members, and sponsors coming out of their backside. Isn't that the measure of success at Collingwood? :)
Because the Pies have been a dismal failure for so long, they're always on the lookout for "success surrogates". Anything will do. Getting a AA selection, getting within a kick of beating a team who played in or won a GF etc etc.... You name it, Pies supporters will cling to it. It's symptomatic of their Loser Culture and has provided me with a lot of laughs.

JAMES HIRD!!! this man ozzes football intellect, and you can see it through his columns in the HUN, one section in that paper i actually enjoy reading!

I sincerely hope that this doesnt turn ugly for Ratts being a club legend and all, but he just doesnt cut it. Has no plan B option, and his `sell your teamate under pressure with a useless handball` gameplan will not deliver premierships. The man just doesnt have an ounce of creativity, and I doubt he will ever change his emphatic handball happy view of the game.

Can anybody else draw parallels between him and Michael Voss? I sure can, and look what Voss is doing at Brisbane.

Yes, we should drop our current coach who has coached for two years for a guy that hasn't coached at this level before.

I think that you've missed the point of the thread.

Even when they don't quite have the team to be there - no, you're right. Tell me who is a quality coach if it's not a bloke who consistently makes finals??

point out to me the actual part of the post where i say `lets drop our current coach`, and then your post may actually have some substance. Otherwise, shut it.

I simply say that it COULD turn ugly for ratts, which implies that there is still the chance that he could salvage a career, which i just cant see happening.

After reading posts on this website for sometime EBIAC, i have to say that you are the most pathetic of the regular posters. Your comments are just useless and are probably better saved for that kindergarten you attend on a daily basis.
