Brenton Sanderson would be on top of my list of untried coaches, been part of the successful Geelong system and is so highly rated Buckley wants to lure him to the Worstpac Centre. Has got very high credentials but perhaps his low profile might go against him which would be a shame.

I'd love Roosy as our next coach, but would think it would be very unlikely

One guy that has been talked up over the last year or so is Brendan McCartney, Hird said as a guest on the couch the other night he is shocked McCartney hasn't got a senior gig anywhere as he is a good leader and developer of young players in particular

The fact that he has been at a winning culture at Geelong is crucial, and he's trying his hand as an assistant now at the Bombers, so he certainly has the experience and variety

I would be looking at him if this year doesn't end too well for Rats

Roos is an itinerant Carlton hater from way back. Any chance he gets he puts the boots into us.

He would not come and coach us unless we offered him a shitload of money... and if he took it, would give 2 ****s about the club.

If we are going to replace Ratten at the end of the year, then I saw we through the huge amounts of money we are going to offer Roos and give them to someone who is actually professional about coaching and doesnt hold any bias against any team and thats Mick Malthouse.

He is 57 years old (58 in August) and will give us at least 2-3 seasons before he needs to start thinking about retiring.

Funny that.. cos he was a Carlton supporter as a kid....

If the power people had their way for the next CFC coach it would be Malthouse or Roos.
Roos at the moment is the guy theyre most interested in.

A couple of reasons over Malthouse.

A Chinese whisper that I have heard today is the Roos deal is as good as done, with the final sticking point being Roos' wife wanting a house by the beach in Brighton.

Wow that's quite a detailed rumour! Maybe the Roos family can live in Juddy's granny flat at his new place in Brighton? He can baby sit baby Juddy and they can even car pool together to save the environment.

I know, I know, I won't be going out and betting my house that Roos will be coaching Carlton based solely off the rumour, but I won't be surprised if it turns out to be true (and they end up living in Brighton ;):thumbsu:). That said I don't directly know the source, so take the info with a grain (or two) of salt.

I'll take that rumour with that much salt thanks :)

My Dad heard the same rumour yesterday. Obviously it's just a rumour and has no merit whatsoever, still, I find it interesting that word is getting around that the deal is already done.

Will be interesting to see what happens (and when).

a) Age
b) The people who are bankrolling this dont want Swann at the club next year and Malthouse has said he wants him there.

So, according to point 2, we have a group of people outside of the board of directors trying to cause a schist in the board so that they can put in someone of their choosing?

This is what kept us in the shit for the better part of the first decade of this century. Too many outside groups trying to run the club when they werent the people in charge.

Swann has helped re-organise the club and has stopped us from becoming a complete rabble since his arrival at the club and a bunch of ****wits want to get rid of him.

We are managing the debt and we have invested heavily in player development in the last 3 years and have made progress. We have gotten in some new assistant coachs, 2 of them seem to be working wonders at the club improving our defensive pressure and formations. The only concern I have at the moment is our goal kicking but that will be sorted out soon I think.

If your backroom backstabbers are acting in the best interests of the club, they would form a group and run as a group to replace the current sitting board. But I am certain that they are a bunch of cowards who are more interested in getting someone else to run the club so that if things **** up it's the person they put into place who gets it in the neck while they all sit back in their nice comfortable chairs holding up their hands saying "sorry gov, wasnt us who cause all these problems".

So unless your bunch of mates who are trying to pull the strings behind the scenes stand up and say we want to run the club, you can **** right off with your bullshit.

Well Roos was sitting near us today and a few Carlton fans were telling him the job was his, was quite funny, but was taking a great interest in the game.

Someone asked him what he would do with Carlton he mentioned something about draft picks etc, but didn't quite hear what he was saying.

Do his kids follow Carlton? They were barracking for the Blues pretty hard.

Well said. There continues to be a noisy minority associated with our club, who are intent on trying to destabilise the club, much like what we saw during the Smorgon administration. These people do not have the best interests of the club at heart, rather their own pathetic agendas. It must be killing them that the likes of Caro & Fatprick Smith have no ammunition to try & belittle our club.

It's pathetic that the sneakyr leakers are back and pushing for a new coach whilst the incumbent is still breathing. Terrible show of disloyalty and lack of respect for a Carlton icon in Ratten. The wannabes should politely **** off and put their knives away until the end of the season. No pissants would be a better slogan. Let it play out after we just fought out two games that we usually lose.

If the call has to be made, then a Gavin Brown or other fresh blood would possibly be a better bet than a tried and true name coach. The last coaching coup didn't exactly work out and save Jack's bacon after we knifed Brittain.

The board has definitely tightened up on the leaks over the past few years since Pratt took over as president. Before then, the board meeting minutes would be getting published in the papers 5 minutes after the board meeting had finished.

It never helped the club and it made a bunch of small pricked tossers feel big compared to the big boys. I wouldnt be surprised if THS was one of those persons who got information from someone who had contacts on the old board prior to Pratt coming in and was one of the sneaky leakers feeding Caro and Fatprick Smith.

And because of the lack of leaks from the board has caused his inflated ego to shrivel along with his reputation with the media jerks.
