So, according to point 2, we have a group of people outside of the board of directors trying to cause a schist in the board so that they can put in someone of their choosing?

This is what kept us in the shit for the better part of the first decade of this century. Too many outside groups trying to run the club when they werent the people in charge.

Swann has helped re-organise the club and has stopped us from becoming a complete rabble since his arrival at the club and a bunch of ****wits want to get rid of him.

We are managing the debt and we have invested heavily in player development in the last 3 years and have made progress. We have gotten in some new assistant coachs, 2 of them seem to be working wonders at the club improving our defensive pressure and formations. The only concern I have at the moment is our goal kicking but that will be sorted out soon I think.

If your backroom backstabbers are acting in the best interests of the club, they would form a group and run as a group to replace the current sitting board. But I am certain that they are a bunch of cowards who are more interested in getting someone else to run the club so that if things **** up it's the person they put into place who gets it in the neck while they all sit back in their nice comfortable chairs holding up their hands saying "sorry gov, wasnt us who cause all these problems".

So unless your bunch of mates who are trying to pull the strings behind the scenes stand up and say we want to run the club, you can **** right off with your bullshit.
hate to break it to you but ratts doesnt have alot of believers right now....

whatever you think

*yawn* keep believing it mate... he will still be there at the end of the year for his review. Unless we go on a monumental losing streak and I dont see that happening.

And you never answer anything. What are you? one of those cowards who sits in the background egging people on and then disappears as soon as the person that they get into a fight starts getting into trouble? You are all yap until the rubber meets the road and then you disappear faster than a snowball in the sahara. Only the newest posters on here seem to hold you in any sort of regard (and I suspect that they are all of your entourage on alts barking like the yappers they are) and the older members are all awake to your bullshit and treat you with the contempt you deserve.

It's pathetic that the sneakyr leakers are back and pushing for a new coach whilst the incumbent is still breathing. Terrible show of disloyalty and lack of respect for a Carlton icon in Ratten. The wannabes should politely **** off and put their knives away until the end of the season. No pissants would be a better slogan. Let it play out after we just fought out two games that we usually lose.

Yeah!!!! Everyone should stfu about our next coach. Completely disrespectful.

If the call has to be made, then a Gavin Brown or other fresh blood would possibly be a better bet than a tried and true name coach. The last coaching coup didn't exactly work out and save Jack's bacon after we knifed Brittain.

including this fool. Stfu mate, I don't wanna hear about your Gavin browns, your fresh blood while Ratten is still the head coach.

Coaching rumour

Just returned to Canberra from Melbourne with the family after spending a week there and catching the Blues play against both Essendon and Adelaide.

A circumstance arose with one of my family and we came in contact with somebody that has been heavily involved with the club for many years. We chatted about alot of things to do with Carlton and the coaching situation came up. This person said that an 'arrangement' has been made with Paul Roos that if he decides to coach next season then Carlton will have first option. He also said that Jeanie Pratt wanted Malthouse as her preference.

Now I don't post rumours as I live away from Melbourne and don't have any contacts with the club at all but wanted to share this after our trip.

Time will tell i guess if this rumour is true but I have absolutely now doubt about this persons credability.

Re: Coaching rumour

if theirs one coach players would love to play for, thats paul roos. if i had a choice to play for any coach, that would be roos. i love mick too, but i think roos knows where our club can improve from and is one who is not scared to target players in trade week, etc. wait and see i guess:thumbsu:

MMMM... Alittle light on detail

This thing about Roos or anyone who has actually played the game hating another team is rubbish. It's really only people in the media or supporters like us who become so religious about it and think their club is good and everyone else is bad. People who play the game, especially at the highest level don't hate other clubs. To them, each club is a potential employer. You might have a preference for one over the other, or some sentimental feelings for one, but they don't "hate" other clubs. If they did, then why would a kid like Kreuzer ever consider playing for Carlton after growing up as a Pies supporter? Or even Kernahan himself. I am sure he wasn't a Carlton supporter as a kid.

I thought it was really revealing how he talked about Carlton's recruiting "On the Couch" some weeks back when he started talking about the process in general. Why single us out, if he wasn't directly thinking about what the Blues need and how they could be improved? Sounds like something he might have said in a quiet chat with people at the club who might have sounded him out about his views.

I know that is all speculation, but I think you can safely rule out the Carlton-hater thing as a barrier to him becoming our coach in the future. Plus his own comments seem to indicate he has given it some serious thought. Thirdly, why is it treason to talk about a new coach? It would be remiss of our board and senior management to not look at the best options for the club in every position. If there is a better coach available, then why would we not find out if they were interested? How would you feel even if we win a final this year and another club convinced Roos to coach them? Look at how much Essendon has improved in one season with a coach who is better at extracting the full potential from his players.

i think roos has been on carltons radar for a long time, when dick pratt became president, nows their chance to pounce and i think they have

We have more talent on our list now than the team Roos took to a premiership. The guy is a coaching genius.

Hearing an ex-Sydney player recently talk "Roos made me do things on the football field even I didn't know I could do!"

Oh yeah why would we want this guy when we can have Ratts

This should be stowed away in a rumour thread somewhere. I fail to see what is adds in our current situation. Right now, we have a coach, a former club champion who has taken us from 15th place, 2 finals appearances in 3 seasons, currently sitting 14 points out of a possible 20, and he is getting torn apart by our own supporters every single week.

I have seen it said that the club do not care what we say on BigFooty so it doesn't matter. Well, if the club are not watching and you have no hope of inspiring change by posting on BigFooty, why are people tearing down the coach and the club? The only possible reason is that it makes them feel better to do so.

I can't fathom it.

The way I figure it we are a supporters forum. If not for the club, then we have no forum. We support those that represent the club until they no longer represent the club.

Consistent threads trying to replace the coach every week, by the admission of his own detractors, achieve nothing.

Roos is not the Carlton coach, nor is Malthouse. If you 'hear' a rumour, post it in the rumour thread. Other than that, feel free to start another thread on the AFL board, until such a time as this rumour has real verifiable legs.

Roos is a great coach can't see him not being a coach out of the game for too long.I think he will get bored taking a year off and have another challenge to take.I reckon his looking at how our list is traveling as no one would be that critical of a team list.I'm sure he has got some interest in it. I reckon he will be part of the Carlton team in 2012 in some way maybe recruiting, head coach some role.

I wonder if we can persuade lethal to come out of retirement...
He will be 60 nearly 2 years older then Malthouse.I would take a coach who is great and fit at least it shows each player i can still keep up with you.Mick Malthouse looks very fit at 60 and Paul Roos.

Umm... Lethal never looked fit even when he was playing.

Leigh Matthews - 1/3/1952 (59) - 4 premierships as coach, 4 as a player
Mick Malthouse - 17/8/1953 (58) - 3 premierships as coach, 1 as a player

I dont see where Mick is 2 years younger than Lethal. In fact, it looks like it is just over 6 months difference in age.

Think he was being ironical. :thumbsu:

I think that I was being only half ironic. ;) but some of these fools just dont get it.:cool:

Roos is into his first year in a 3 year contract to head the Swans academy. In order to go to Carlton he would need the Swans to release him from his contract. I just don't see Roos wanting to move back to Melbourne since he hasn't lived their since being drafted and he has a steady reasonably well paying job in Sydney and with Fox Sports.

This is about right... I think that he would be more interested in the development coaching right now. Maybe in a couple of years, he will be ready to step back up into the spotlight again. But for now, he is quite happy sitting back getting coin for making a few comments on the tele and picking up his paycheck from the bloods.

For now, he will be sitting back taking it easy.

Roos made a fair bit about his sons schooling getting top priority as a reason for stepping down. If he was to coach again, the best bet would be after his youngest son had finished. I think he's in year 10 now.

As I said, maybe in a couple of years :)

Just wanted to put another name into the hat after having it recommended to me by someone in the know...

I heard Tommy Hafey is still alive and doing well and looking quite fit... and he might be available for a head coaching gig at the club...
:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::cool::cool::cool:

now thats irony :P
