those of you who are in the older age bracket might remember paul sarah.
what a specialist off the bench player he was, just when you needed a lift
in a game he could come off the bench and kick a quick two or three goals
and save or win a game for you.ahh those were the days, they just don't make
them like they use to. ;) your thoughts?

I remember him and still today dont know whether being very young and perhaps less judgemental on players or the fact that we were a strong side elevates him in my mind beyond what he was. I remember being glad to get him along with Landy.

They got us back though didnt they with Biddiscomb!!

He kicked a goal to draw or win us a match after the siren at Moorabin one day. Does anyone remember that one.

Guys like Richo and Cambo are so much better than these type of players that give us a good memory but unfortunately the players that get remembered are the ones who played in winning sides.

Perhaps Wallace should let our players know that.

PS. I also thought Dennis Collins was a good pickup but some people say that the money he demanded to finance his perm was one of the incidents that had guys like BT,Cloke and Raines leaving over preferential treatment to new recruits. BT arked up about him one day on MMM.

i think paul was more of a impact player rather than a flash in the pan.
very highly skilled and a absolute bloodhound around goal. i had a lot
of time for that bloke, players like that are as rare as hens teeth.

I've got that on tape in the 'That was the season that was 1981' video. It was in late 1981 and he got a free kick after he was legged and had a shot when the scores were tied.

It was a tough kick because, while it was fairly close to goal, it was in the face of a very strong breeze, but he comfortably slotted it home.

Was one of the many Richmond players in 1980 who were squeezed out of the premiership side. He definitely played in the second-semi final against Geelong but don't know why he missed out.

VERY famous round that was - can you guess why. It was the round that the umps went on strike and U19 umps were used.

I remember being at the ground and to this day say it was the strongest wind i have ever seen at an AFL game - to my memory it was the only goal kicked up that end for the game - hang on and i will check that.

Ok not quite but here are the quarter by quarter scores

5.4 5.4 7.8 10.11
0.1 6.8 6.9 9.11

So maybe my memory is not 100% but at 3/4 time the scores kicked at either end were 13.15 - 0.2 so our 5 point lead looked rather shaky.

I remember all the crowd was down the grandstand end. I also remember the free and the goal. It was a cold day on the morrabbin outer that day - but we won.

Would love to see that tape.

Not as good as Robert Lamb. How did we ever let that player go?
gee you seem to be a big fan of his . i use to play at the same cricket club as him back in the late eighties, nothing much of him and
seem to be getting a bit long in the tooth back then, hate to think how old he is now must be in his fifties.
