There is a strong rumour going around town that Magarey Medallist Thomas is a target of Hawthorn. Due to Clarkson having coached him at Central.

22 or 23 from memory.
I heard his speech after winning the Magarey Medal and he was shattered after getting the flick from Adelaides Rookie list a couple of years ago so it would be a dream come true for him to get back into the AFL and even better to be on a senior list ;)

It is a travesty that someone with his natural ability and talent is not playing AFL football. He spent some time at the Power as well and I was very keen for Port to give him a go. He would slot in well at Hawthorn across half back.

I would love to know more about Thomas, if anyone has any information about his style of play, weight, positions, comparisons to other players etc. That would be much appriciated. From what I have heard he would be a good acciquisition and able to go straight into AFL footy across a HBF and release Smith into the Midfield!

Cheers fellas..

For starters, Clarkson aint Judge...and Thommo sure aint Treleven. The guy is 22yo DEAD KEEN to play AFL, was spewin he got cut from crows rookie list and has carved the SANFL. If he leaves Centrals I too will be spewin....but very happy for him all the same cos I can see him playing every game for the hawks next year if he gets a go, off the HBF or BP or thru the middle, versatile, hard running, agile, evasive. Runs out of defence like Wirrpunda and has bullet foot disposal most of the time. Very high kick to handball ratio, sometimes Ive seen him get 28 kicks 1 handball and kicks it long more often than not.

Fair enough, but if he has the desire and ability, what has held him back so far? Surely he would have to have deficiencies if he hasn't been given a crack at a senior list to date?

Late bloomer Hodgey....not a standout player at 18 years of age, but was more opportunity at SANFL level by Clarkson after carving the ressies for years. Just kept developing and is bursting at the seams. Some players just develop that way....doesn't nec mean they aren't any good.

Be very interesting to see how he goes (if he is picked of course)

I am crossing my fingers for him to be pciked up by the Hawks at 53.

Five drafts and overlooked in of them, except for being pickd up by the Crows for their Rookie list.
