Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Shane Crawford can read?
I don't think it could have been handled better. Differently, yes. I would like to see the same ruthless streak appear in more areas of the club especially recruitment.Yes it was ruthless and maybe it could have been handled better, but it was the best decision the club ever made.
He was perfectly poised to take the Brissie job whilst he was an assistant there.
The fact he missed that speaks volumes.

Shane Crawford can read?
going to be an interesting read when I eventually get my hands on a copy
my understanding is that Mark ruled himself out of the Brisbane job, & also ruled himself out of being a Head Coach after the knifing from Fremantle. It would appear that hasn't changed. What would be interesting is how he rates the pharmacist & if he stays at his old club, the Peptides
I remember going to Fremantle vs. Carlton late in the 2011 season (Rd 21) and thinking "what the hell is going on?" in regards to the coaching and tactics on display.
Wallsy "on the couch ": Mark, what does the Fremantle FC stand for?

Grabbed the book today.Marked down from $32 to $27 at Dymocks.Interesting that his mum and dad both told Freo at their interviews not to draft him.Did not want him to go to Freo.Thought the club was not AFL standard and the players were more interested in Surfing than football.
He could have joined Melbourne circa 2009.Could of been worst. Could of joined ninthmond
I often think about that question for some reason. I still consider it one of the more disingenuous questions ever asked.
Unfortunately Harvey was so dumb/inarticulate he couldn't point that out to Wallsy and instead he just fell into a heap.
SnapHa ha.
He would have had a ghost writer of course. Nearly all books written by these sports stars and celebrities do. In Shane's case he probably still has NFI what "he wrote" in "his book".
Ross would not have answered a question like that, and shit truck walls would have been put back in his box.Nobody would've been mentioning the validity of the question if it was answered answered articulately and without hesitation. If Ross was answering the question it would've been completely forgotten about.

Exactly, it wouldn't have been thrown back in Walls' face, it would've been played with a straight bat and made to be a complete non-event - the complete opposite of what has gone down in history.Ross would have hit that kind of question into the 2nd tier. "A commitment to results and a willingness to work hard to get results" + a couple of Ross Lyonisms and the question would have been done and dusted.
any coach worth his salt should have been able to answer that question.
Ended up next to McManus getting a beer at the Mustang Bar late one night, said hey good luck coming back this year and he stuck out his hand to shake it and said "Gee thanks a lot".

Lets be honest, if that was Harves at that initial press conference, it would've looked like a Mal Meninga press conference declaring his entry into politics.Just think about Mark Harvey trying to do the press conference Ross did when he first arrived. The entire press corps going for the jugular and Ross shut every single one of them down. To the point where guys like Whatley were reduced to taking pot shots in their column a couple of days later.
The actual answer to the question is "#&@k of Wallsy you know perfectly well its the same as every other club *insert a few cliches*. It's not even a proper question you *beeeeep*. God FMD!". Presumably that went through Harves head, but it took a bit too long and, realising you can't actually swear at Wallsy while on telly no matter how much you want to, he wasn't mentally agile enough to regain his composure.Ross would have hit that kind of question into the 2nd tier. "A commitment to results and a willingness to work hard to get results" + a couple of Ross Lyonisms and the question would have been done and dusted.

Look. I am not a Mark Harvey fan but that Wallsy question , on the couch, was an appalling, set up and should never have been allowed to proceed.
Could you imagine any other club allowing that ?
Snap
Yeah, absolutely. That was, in part, my point. It was a terrible question and I don't think even Walls knew what he was asking. As you say he was just trying to set Mark up, hence I called it disingenuous - it was falsely smart. It sounds high-brow but is in fact so vague and generic and, in that context, is difficult to answer in the particular.
My post came out a bit hard on Harvey, which isn't really fair. But I'd still say a sharper mind might have put Walls in his place - tough to do on the spot though I grant.
