Pav rumour

Major points that people are overlooking re Pav leaving and why he won't:

- The Adelaide coach is just as over-scientific, technical, cryptic and stifling as CC.

- The Port coach has got the best he's ever going to get out of that team

- Port and Crows are just as far away from a flag as Freo, if not further
(Crows are a shell of last year's team and fired their best and last shot next week)

- There's more than footy keeping Pav in WA - and SA is there on the twilight, retirement horizon because the pressure cooker of Adealiade footy scene is worse than Perth.

Concluding, the SA teams have really no immediate future success to offer and if I were Pav I'd ask, "If not CC, then who?"

There is no-one.

Williams has already won 1 flag, they have been in the system less time than Freo, he is building a team for the next one,Port is doing better with kids than freo with a bought team. CC cant coach. get over it Freo .

Ryan Campbell said on Nova sport this morning that Pav WILL be in the purple next year.

Anyone know how close he is to the playing group; he seemed to have made it fairly clear he is:rolleyes:

Posted that earlier... He went on record to say he will quit his job at Nova if he leaves... He reckons he will put his house on him staying. Sounded like the contact was pav himself the way cambo came across... But dont read too much into it, ill wait until he physically signs the contract before i get excited.

First Round Pick + Cassisi + Pettigrew maybe?? All WA boys involved there

Unless the pick is a top 3 pick not a chance. Your not trading for Chris Tarrant mate its Matthew Pavlich, arguably the 2nd or 3rd best footballer in the country. Your not gonna get him with 2 middle of the road players and a mid 1st round pick.

Try again in September IF he says he wants to leave.

Obviously the club should do everything possible to keep Pav at the club (including if necessary sacking Cuddles).

But in the event that Pav leaves would it really be the end of the world? Given that Pav is uninjured, and is the leading goal kicker in the AFL, and arguably the best key position player in the league, this is probably the best time for Freo to float Pav to the market if Pav decides to leave.

Given that we now have a well resourced recruitment department, we would be well placed to use the first round draft picks we got for Pavlich in a effective way. Given that the SA teams will not finish on the bottom of the ladder, they will have to go all out to secure Pav - Freo has a credible threat of putting Pav in the pre-season draft. The SA teams would blink in any stand off because they are both desperate for a key position forward like Pav.

After the great service that Pav has given Fremantle I would expect that Fremantle would allow Pav to choose his club of his choice and then negotiate a suitable deal with that club. This credible threat of putting Pav in the pre-season draft would just lower my faith in the officials running the club. I support the Crows and would love to have Pav here but I think that any player who gives 5 years or more service to a club deserves to be allowed to go "home" if he desires. Kane Johnson, Fergus Watts were 2 such players that were given easy transfers back yo their home states. There are lots of players that have given good service for clubs that they have been drafted to and have returned "home" with considerations from the clubs involved.

Whatever Pav does I hope the Freo supporters don't lower themselves to the feral supporters who bag anyone who leaves a club.

Similarly I think that when a coach leaves for whatever reason he is not bagged.

I think if the guy that 6 months back accepted the captaincy of the club decides to pack his bags and leave then he deserves all the bagging he gets. Dont think it will happen anyway, so its a bit of a moot point as far as i;m concerned.

I agree that anyone that thinks they have some sort of "inside" sources is a complete idiot. Everybody hears rumours and they mean jack shit.

On the CC comment, i have to disagree. I have been a massive CC fan over the years but i think it is time for a change, especially if we miss out on the 8. Lets get Kevin Sheedy! Then the Pav will stay for sure.
Thanks for you opinion. Who cares what you think of me.

I have only ever posted something like this once before and that was that Schofield was coming to Freo about a mojnth before it was official (hardly earth shattering news though). I have nothing to gain from this and diddums to you if you don't like it.

Well then. if Pav's leaving then Taz must be going with him because Pav said it might take a year or more for the two of them to function together in the forward line.
And he was one of the Freo players on the phone to Taz to convince him to come to Freo, so did he say, "Come to Freo..but I'm leaving in seven months...".

Pavlich will stay because when it comes down between one of the top 3 players in the comp and an average coach. the ffc would choose to keep the player and say bye bye coach. For Pav any coach but CC would be good. Havey, and Sumich to be front runners! But in this day in age money talks, ffc has a lot and a lot of silent partners with money so any coach is available. would not be suprise is Woosha gets mentioned. As i said money talks. Pav will stay. bye bye CC

Ryan Campbell just said on his sports segment on Nova Pavlich would stay with Fremantle. Cambo reckons he has a source very close to Pavlich, got the impression it was actually Pav himself but cambo wouldnt say exactly who. Just said when the time is right he would sign. Said all the rumours were bull shite and that Pav is a one club player.

Cambo said he would put his house on Pavlich staying and went on record saying he would quit his Nova job if Pavlich left.

Cambo and Pav are good friends.
