Havey, and Sumich to be front runners! But in this day in age money talks, ffc has a lot and a lot of silent partners with money so any coach is available. would not be suprise is Woosha gets mentioned. As i said money talks. Pav will stay. bye bye CC
Yeah, I can see that happening, Woosha walking down the road to Freo for a few extra k per year, all other reasons aside, WCE are also one of the paupers of the comp too.

Hopefully Pav knows that and it could tip the balance in our favour. There's no doubt Pav would much prefer to play for Adelaide but if the only chance of a deal is with Port then it may make going back home to play seem a tad less attractive to him.

Neill Craig has said that it would probably cost a first round pick + a very good player, which is an extremely high price to pay for one player. I'll be very surprised if Pav is playing for the crows next year, if he wants to go home he'll be playing for port.

Van Berlo is very much worth looking at. He's West Aussie as well.

He's worth looking at, but he's more the sweetener than the base of a deal.

Polak + Medhurst + first round pick in a great draft >>>>> VanBerlo + 1st round + 3rd round in a mediocre draft.

Pavlich >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tarrant.

All True - however if Pav does go we have to try to get the best deal we possibley can. I'd rather get one decent young emerging skilled and fast midfielder like Van Berlo and a couple of chances to get some talent than get some recycled hacks.
I can't really think of anyone else the Crows have to trade that we may want who is West Aussie. Porplyzia is good emerging forward.
Who have Port got that are realistic compensation to trade with us? They have those two very green half-forward/foward/midfielder types that have debuted this season that have gone pretty good in Westhoff and Grey.

Nightfury, I'm sure Port and the Crows would love to deal with you. IF Pav wants to go we MUST play hardball and not budge in what we get for him. He is in the top 2 or 3 players in the competition - you don't let those kind of players go for whatever the opposition can come up with. I'd personally rather send him to Richmond in the PSD than give him to Adelaide or Port for nicks.

Adelaide will have to trade a very good player to a Victorian club for a top five pick if they want Pav. There aren't any players on their list that we are desperate to get who would be keen to move to Perth.

FFS do you people believe everything the media or someone writes:rolleyes:
Pav said earlier on in the season that he wants to stay.
Its disappointing to see Freo fans have no faith in Pavs integrity. You wouldn't blame him for leaving the way this is going .Reminds me of the time the weagles fans ran Gehrig out of town.

The talk about family makes me laugh as well especially when Pav's father has told him numerous times over the last 18 months to remain a 1 club player as it means so much more in the end.

More than being a Premiership player?

Two (long) p
I don't care what anybody says - he accepted the position of becoming our leader and you don't abandon your troops when they need you the most just because you think the other side has more chance of winning the war. An overly dramatic and irrational analogy to be sure, but being a footy supporter is an irrational past time.

I think that was a mistake; you basically made Pav Captain in the hope that it would stop him leaving.

Wasn't Gehrig getting booed by his own fans and even reported to be getting hate mail? I seem to recall hearing something like that, or is that just some anti-eagle propaganda my twisted mind has created?

Pav's idolised by us Freo folk and I'm sure the majority still have every faith that he's staying. It is fun to watch how excited Port and Crows fans are getting though.

I don't think there's any danger of Pav ever being run out of town. Although if all this talk bothers him there's a simple way for him to make it stop.

Ask Buckley what happens when you run out on your club to chase premierships. Or Colbert.

Really? I was under the impression that we made him captain because Bell wanted to step down and he was the standout candidate for the job.

Quick one - do you guys expect Freo to challenge for the Flag in the next three years?

If not that'd have to come into the thinking; if you could get two first rounders and a young player who fits in your starting 18, who could develop and be ready for you guys to have a tilt in a few years, it could be worth it.

Pav is unquestionably a gun, but is he more value helping you finish say 5th instead of 9th, or is he more valuable in trading to help get some good young talent which could take you all the way in a few years?

Esti - Pav was obviously the stand out, but wasn't it pretty widely thought that part of it was to keep Pav there?

That was always perceived as a positive side effect. But I don't think there's any suggestion that it was a motivating factor in any way. Bell had wanted to hand over the captaincy a few years earlier but CC vetoed it saying Pav wasn't ready yet. So there's no case to be made that Bell handed over the captaincy just as a carrot to keep Pav here.

Just on that - Pav is on record as saying he took his time and thought long and hard before accepting the captaincy. Given it was always blindingly obvious that he was the best man for the job then I'd say the only decision he had to ponder was whether he was committed to staying if he accepted. Pav's an honourable young man and I don't think he would have accepted the captaincy only to throw it back in our faces a year later.

Freo is having a rough year - we are almost like the second year player who had a blinder in his debut year and is getting a whole lot more attention now - a few tweaks here and there and we have the ability to be right back up the top.

Pav's only worth to Freo is that he remains here - you can't begin to imagine the emotional damage that Pav leaving would have on this club. We struggle for respect as it is - if our captain walks out, we'll be hearing about it for the next 100 years.

Geelong seem to be doing OK without Colbert. ;)

Just trying to point out that it would be the end of the world should it eventuate.

You might need to edit that :D

I agree, it wouldn't be the end of the end of the world, but it would certainly be an extremely large setback for a club that has had more sand kicked in its face while its been down than any other. Outsiders (particularly outside WA) just don't understand Fremantle and what someone like Pav means to us - we simply can't afford to let him go.
