South Freo,
After I rated Lloyd a better 'forward' than Pavlich on a top ten KP forwards thread at 1st (with Pav 2nd) a friend asked if I would rather Lloyd on my list and I said no. I guess I don't see him as a versatile enough player, but he does a great job as a FF, the best since Lockett and Ablett IMO.

Anyhow, I'm really interested to know who you would all prefer in your team out of the two.

It depends what aspect of either player you place greater importance. For me, I regard kicking goals as greater in importance, having an 80-100 goal FF can be the difference between challenging for and winning the Premiership. As servicable as Scott Lucas has been over his time at the Bombers, he's no J Brown, Tredrae or Pavlich and yet Essendon had been able to dominate from '99-'01 on the back of two 100 goal + seasons by Lloyd.

If they were the same age i'd go Lloyd, Sure versatility can be important but having someone who can fill the role of ff as well as Lloyd can and continiously kick 80-100 is just a fantastic asset to have. Lloyd's consistency is his greatest strength. I've seen him have 'quiet' days where he still ends up with 3,4,5 goals.

Pavlich no doubt is going to be a future champion however (if he isn't one already) and because of the difference in age i would take him over Lloyd at this point in their careers.

Different types of players - both very good. Lloyd is a pure FF, and a very good one, although his best is behind him now. Pav plays further up the ground and might not kick as many goals, but probably sets a lot more up than Lloyd. As to who you'd prefer in your side - a lot depends on what your current forward line is like. At Carlton we have a better FF in Fev, and so wouldn't need Lloyd. Pav would be useful, but the Blues are going for a much bigger pack busting CHF in Josh Kennedy. Pav is versatile, and can be used as a tall utility type. Teams like the Weagles or Bulldogs would need both quite desperately as they either have zero KP forwards or ones of limited ability. :)

Yes, I think that comment quite nicely sums up your football knowledge. Nice to be reminded from time to time. :)

Didn't take long did it parrot

Hook line and sinker

FWIW I'd really take Pav

If we didn't have Lloyd, I'd choose Lloyd. Otherwise, I'd choose Pavlich  Ironic isn't it.

Can't let you get away with that one. Pav would be useful. How many games has Kennedy played? Pav is a proving star. Kennedy MIGHT become a good player but lets be honest your just using Josh Kennedy because of where he was picked up in the draft. If he was a second round pick I doubt you would have such high hopes to compare him to Pav. Early picks doesnt meant definant champions Eg Walker
