I normally dont like posting on the net but sometimes I have to say something. This is not true and had never been true. Your sources do not know what they are a talking about, I sincerely doubt that they actually work for Geelong. No person who is employed by a football club would actually assert what you are trying to say
 
They should start calling him Matthew 'If he played for a Victorian team' Pavlich, because every time he is mentioned someone has to sprout that line.

Anyone who doesn't rate him as a champion is just proving that they never watch Freo play.

The man's got a durable body to boot. Doesn't get injured much, outstanding record for playing the majority of games in a season. He hasn't played less than 19 games in the last 11 seasons. Just a machine.

Wait for the book. Of course he won't admit it while still playing. Agree to disagree, but I'm very comfy with my source. Will I endanger a 30+ year relationship by naming it, to placate someone on the net? No
Even so, it doesn't take away from his great game last night
 
Great game by the Pav, kicked a lot of 'captains goals'

3 in the first term to get the Dockers off to a headstart, then kicked a goal to arrest Geelong's momentum, kicked a nice goal baulking Lonergan to seal it, and that cool goal from an angle running towards goal. Flawless, except for that shot out of bounds when the game was over.

As great as Pavlich is, Collingwood would be bonkers to do that trade. Cloke is not THAT much worse than Pavlich, and is probably just as valuable given the age difference. Chuck in Beams and maybe a young prospect? Wowee.
 
What amazes me about Pav is his longevity. He will win his 7th AA this year and 7th B&F.

Such a quality individual and true champion of the game - great integrity, humility, intelligience and loyalty.

Is there another current day player who has played as long at the highest levels and still has the capacity to tear a game apart, including a high pressure big stage final?

What is all this garbage talk about "if he played for a Melbourne team he would be considered a champion"? FFS the VFL ended in 1989! Fremantle would have more supporters than all but probably 4 Vic teams, Pavlich is a champion end of story!

yep in hindsight it was an error but he has been better than fraser,haselby and fiora so its not just richmonds error. remember he was also passed up by all clubs as a 17yo the previous year. drafting is not an exact science. fiora was a teenage star by the way.some players just dont make it.

it's as if there's no TV and we're not aware of how good he is except for the occasional piece of news we hear weeks later over the wires
 
Champion of the game.

A rung below Carey and Franklin IMO but ahead of riewoldt, tredrea and Jon brown, certainly in terms of longevity. Lack of team success has definitely held him back much like Richo but he will get his chance to atone for that over the next couple years. Game of his career last night - the type of performance that has been missing from his illustrious career (through lack of opportunity).
