Did the big guy hit the pies in the pre-season or something. He looks a bit overwight for his standards. And has lost the thigns that made him so good for a KPP. He worked hard, was athletic and great at ground level.
He does neither of these at the moment and looks a step slow.

He isnt a good captain, he doesnt work ahrd enough on the field and doesnt set the example like he shoule be.
Give the captaincy to Paul Hasleby.
Right now i wouldnt be to dissapointed if he left at the end of the year and i think he will.

Don't be such a bloody idiot, we wouldn't be a finals contender without Pav yet alone top 4 contender.

We aren't anyway.

Tony Shaw has no idea what he is on about 99% of the time.

We might as well give it to JLo instead.

Hase is not captain material. The players need to take responsibility for themselves. They are old enough and have been around for long enough to motivate themselves and pull their own fingers out when required (ie NOW) and that goes for Pav as well as any one.

That is a ridiculus comment! Pav works, leads hard, do you expect him to win every two on one contest? when he leads we are to slow to get it too him, then we bomb to him as a last resort and expect him while sitting under three blokes to mark it? have a think about it

Geebus...you do talk some crap some time Wizard.

lol Pavlich was working hard. He is on the wing one second, in the forward line the next.

He kicked 3 of our 10 goals.

Give the captaincy to Hasleby? that is laughable.

I certainly hope that he stays, but I reckon he'll want to go if we miss the 8. Can't see the crows coming up with a suitable trade, so if he does leave he's probably more likely to be traded to a Victorian club.

Luring Pagan or Sheedy to the club in early September would help to convince Pav to stay, can't see him hanging around to play under a rookie coach.

His work rate in the alst half made me eat my words somewhat actually. My main query is when the ball hits the deck he is struggling.

I'm a huge PAV fan but at the moment he is not putting in any second efforts. He won't chase. The ball hits the ground and he gives up.

I remember him turning his player inside out and kicking goals or setting up others.

Also he seems to be trying to take every mark on his chest. I don't know if he's done a shoulder?

Sorry dom, this is not directed just at you, but at everyone who says "Pav will go if we miss the 8".

Pav is the captain. He is the Numero Uno King Dick at the club. He should be part of "the solution", not run away because of "the problem". Isn't it partially his responsibility to drag this club up, not run away and leave it floundering... If the motivation is not coming from the coaching staff - at what point do Pav, Josh - even Belly, Hase and whoever else is in the "Leadership Group" say - "BUGGER THIS... we are better than this, we have shown last year that we are better than this, we deserve better and we are fricken well going to get it."

Saying "Pav will go" is just giving him an out, removing any responsibility from him to be part of the fix-up.... That's what I reckon anyway.

Look at the Kanga's. THey became predictable kicking to Thompson all the time. Our midfielders need to start looking for other options. Perhaps Pav is such an intimidating player around the club and field that he demands the ball.

Other players may feel obligated to deliver him the ball. Perhaps other forwards get yelled at for leading into his space.

Or perhaps everyone else is lazy.

We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

Maybe I'm a little cranky but I think the other options some of our midfielders need to consider are other clubs.

I've been watching the same 6-8 players go around for nearly 3.5 years for pretty much the same result. That elimination final where we got belted had Bell-Hasleby-M Carr-Webster-MacManus-Walker-Headland-Sandilands-JLo. The only change is Crowley and Josh Carr.

IP says if you keep doing the same thing over and over you'll get the same result. Outside MacManus none of those players have got significantly better in that time. And some are not as good through injury. And we haven't improved our team work in that time either. I'm very sceptical of midfields ability to compete with the top 8.

I get your point IP, but we look at things as Fremantle supporters. I'm sure fans of the 15 other clubs would be thinking why the **** would he stay at that club, it's a rabble.

Pav owes the Fremantle Football Club nothing. He has held up his side of the agreement and given his all for 8 seasons. He has another 6 or 7 years in the game, I'm sure if the season continues the way that it's going he'll be thinking that he doesn't want to waste another 3 years at this club.

To average Joe's (and Jane's) like us it seems strange that as a full time well paid athlete that motivation would be an issue, but it quite clearly is. It's a frequent occurence in all sports that a team goes from chumps to champs with a new coach. The leadership group have tried to sort out some issues already this year, but quite clearly it hasn't worked. The magic potion that they found during the split round last year must not be working this year.

Worst post ever.

Wouldn't be surprised if McManus isn't out there next week Dr Dagg - I think he gave the MRP enough to keep them happy for the week.

I agree that it's time to make some changes. While everyone loves and admires McManus, the reality is he wouldn't get a game in any other team. He shouldn't be getting a game in our team and the fact that he is doesn't say much for our youngsters who should have been pressing for selection and demanding that spot long before now.

Midfielders are a dime a dozen. All we need to do is get some fast ones. Maybe even look to the WAFL and pick up a 23-24 year old if we have to, and throw the likes of Ibbotson and Foster in there. They don't need to be superstars, just quick and with reasonable disposal.

Geelong are a very good example of what we need to be doing. They have a very strong forward line, much like we do, but the reason they are winning is that they are playing on their strengths. We get first use of the ball only to cough it up. The few times we do get it, we either play on and turn it over, or take forever to move it on and let the opposition clog the forward line.

Unless the next few weeks see things turn around dramatically, it will be interesting to see how Connolly decides to go down. Will we be stuck playing rubbish football for the rest of the season, or will the shackles come off and a bit of excitement come back into the Freo side?

I agree with what has been said that he seems not to chase hard enough or seem to give up too easy when he hits the ground. It must be frustrating the way the ball comes down but it doesnt matter what the situation is you still have try and as captain you have to lead by example as bell did.
