Ry009 here is a 34" 3440*1440 and 32" 4K side by side. You've got dav's a few posts up for more reference too. Both are curved so it was hard to get an orthographic perspective but it might help you get an idea.

First see Steam on the ultrawide

Now see how much room that takes on the 4K. I didn't resize it, only dragged it over. If you're starting to consider 32" 4K I do recommend going to see one in person first if you're planning on doing work on it. If you think you might need to increase the scale then it might defeat the purpose and you may as well stick to looking at 3440*1440 for your use case.

Side by side. The ultrawide is definitely a bit wider, but 32" 16:9 is still pretty big.

Ah......davs and your posts make sense. And seeing Steam helps a tonne too.

Will trek out on the weekend hopefully.

Cheers fellas.

Mid-life refresh for my pc. All the terrible corsair fans, lighting and aio out, brought in a noctua nh-d15 and some be quiet fans, swapped out my 3900x for a 5800x3d, then got a monitor arm mount. Should hold me out until next year when the next wave of 4k screens start pouring out.
Running much much quieter and surprisingly a fair bit cooler.

Very nice.

I’m considering dropping a 5800x3d into my rig to upgrade the 5600x.

I’ve got the chromax black s version of the nh-d15, it’s a fine cooler indeed.

I’m very happy with my Lian Li uni fans.

The jump in performance from the 3900x to the 5800x3d has been incredible. Makes me think something was wrong with my 3900x

Even as a 5900x owner and looking at some game benchmarks lately I've been feeling inadequate. 5900x so low in almost every test lol. If you've got a high end graphics card then 5800x3d, 7800x3d, 13600k and 13900k are running rings around absolutely everything else right now.

Scorptec have my build listed as ETA of today. Really *en excited to get it home.

Can't wait to find out what extras I've forgotten (cables etc lol)

These twomonitors are in my price range and I've got some cash from a birthday leftover, is one significantly better than the others?

Or I could really stretch the friendship with the wife and go for this one - But I' not sure on specs differences between this and the LG above

If you're still looking at that last LG 27" it's $419 on Amazon

dwwaino any Australian parts sellers that will price match (or preferably beat) newegg?

I don't think anyone will match Newegg or any online retailer. I almost exclusively shop at Scorptec (physical chain in Melbourne) and they won't even match MSY.

Are you even finding good prices on Newegg at the moment? I was comparing some stuff just the other day and they were pretty much on par with local prices but with exorbitant shipping.

newegg $513 Scorptec $699

So... yea..

What's the shipping cost? For the few things I was looking at for myself any savings was chewed up by a $50+ shipping charge and then it wasn't worth it should I have any issues with returns or whatever.

$0 Free Delivery, trust me bro, I know they're the cheapest haha

Newegg were considerably cheaper for my Noctua cooler (at least $50 cheaper) and had free shipping on that item. It arrived on time and well packed.

Scorptec is my go to shop with Centrecom #2. But I bought my GPU from PLE because they were basically the only ones selling the big black XFX that I wanted at the time.

I got a few odds an ends for my current system from Newegg, including my memory because it was the only place I could find 3600mhz cl16 b-die (despite some Corsair Dominators that were about $200 more locally). Since contemplating an AM5 upgrade I checked them out to compare a few prices and not the same luck this time. The AUD has taken a dive lately though too compared to USD.

heh. Was checking my disk and volumes sections of my settings checking the bus type of each drive and had no idea that all of this time my Windows install is on my SATA SDD. I have 3 drives, 2 NVME M.2 and one traditional SATA SSD. That's what happens I guess when they're all 1TB Samsung. Though the two M.2 drives are Evo 970 and the SATA is Evo 860 which I assume should have shown up when choosing where to install and I'm surprised I didn't pick up on it. This Windows 11 install was fresh and I only did it last year but I think I've had it setup this way since I build it because I've even missnamed the drives when I first formatted them lol (one is named SATA so I was supposed to know which one it was).

I was planning on a clean install this Christmas so I guess Windows will have to keep chugging on the Ghetto drive until then.

Thought I bricked my motherboard for a moment. I couldn't get Rebar enabled despite enabling a couple settings for it in BIOS. Nvidia control panel and GPU-Z kept saying ReBar disabled. I thought I'd finally try and work this out as Starfield now supports it and Cyberpunk does. Updating my vBIOS didn't work so decided to update my motherboard BIOS as I have never done it since I built it (if it ain't broke don't fix).

After reading the BIOS update off USB the PC restarted and I get the "BIOS updating, do not turn off system message". System turns itself off. Power button doesn't work. But I've had an issue since I built it that sometimes it won't start via the button and I'll have to power cycle. I left it for about 20 minutes before deciding it wasn't going to turn itself back on and rolled the dice and power cycled. Booted to..... "ERROR (I shit myself right here) CPU Fan error, press F1"

I'm 99.99999999999999% sure I disabled CPU fan monitoring because I run my fans from my AIO. So will need to keep an eye on that. Thankfully the only other settings I had to redo in BIOS was re-enable my auto memory overclock. I was actually more worried about Windows 11 not booting properly due to all the TPM stuff and whatever else it is you have to enable in BIOS before you can even install it. I don't use Bitlocker or anything like that though so all good there too.

Also, Rebar finally says enabled. Yay.
