Console will remain my gaming platform of choice for a number of reasons, so high-end gaming machines aren't really for me. However, I'll probably dabble from time-to-time, so something capable of playing most things at a good, stable level is important. I'm not chasing the best possible settings...

I'm pretty sure I'll go for either the 1070 or 1080...

hahaha. i've held my breath longer than the time between these 2 posts :D

Unfortunately the motherboard wasn't in on Saturday so I couldn't do anything. Hopefully pick it up today.

In other news, I bought Project Cars 2, Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Cuphead to show off the rig. :D

(By the way, hope that other thing in the city on Saturday was alright dwwaino ;))

Just a little shindig, didn't go too bad :D

Was catching up on some Linus Tech Tips videos last night as they're often as fun as they are informative and saw this one and thought of you when he said the cooler had the AM mounting bracket inside the box. Can't remember which one you are going for but sounds just as Gold Member said and if not just ask them.

Nah, definitely wasn't in the box. All sorted in the end though, thanks. :thumbsu:

What did you have to do, contact Deepcool with proof of purchase or something?
Well I initially emailed PCCG and they told me they didn't stock the bracket, recommending that I talk to the manufacturer. I did so, and after a day's wait they told me to...check with PCCG. So I emailed the latter again and asked them if I could exchange the Maelstrom for the NZXT X52 (don't judge me :D) and they told me that would be fine, so I sorted all that out. Not two hours later they emailed and said they had the bracket. :drunk: So I have the X52. Unnecessarily, but I have it.

Haha friggen morons, so my assumption was correct all along!

Looking at upgrading my 670 to either a 1060, 1070 or 1080 for some COD and PROJECT CARS II.

Unless someone tells me those games will run fine on the 670 then I won't upgrade at all :p

I have never heard anyone say they need to upgrade for CoD!
You're pretty much on minimum spec for both those titles. As GPUs are overproced in general at the moment due to crypto minimng I'd recommend getting the games first and see how you go. If you need to upgrade then a 1060ti is the value for money sweet spot.
LoL CoD, Just turn down textures, AA and Post Processing and watch your 670 shit out 160fps...

Ah sweet. I need to do something about my memory though as I'm running obsolete 12GB triple-channel RAM

So after a minor heart attack caused by the monitor not receiving input from the PC at all - a problem solved by realising that I hadn't connected the CPU to power :drunk: - it's built and booted. :thumbsu: Will sort pics out once I've installed everything, but suffice to say it is extremely sexy.

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I built my first PC about 15 years ago. Ended up taking it into CPL and got laughed at :(

Also https://ninite.com/ will save you a ton of time

Nice. I picked this up myself earlier today. Hit me up if you want to play co-op.

I was thinking of some other games to show off your rig. Recently played Rise of the Tomb Raider and that game is gorgeous. Resident Evil 7 is another one that I wouldn't hesitate in checking out if you haven't already.
