Might need a Windows 11 Pro key in the coming months, what's a good place to look dwwaino ?

I don't have any particular go to for software keys. Last time I did was to get Win 11 Home for a family member (who didn't end up needing it so I've still got said key) I just used Google and picked a reseller that didn't look too dodgy.

SHE'S HERE!!!

I can't thank you all enough for your advice on this one. My first ever gaming PC. Plenty to build on here including M/K hah.

I think the PC will go under the desk once my wife gets home and decides she wants it under there but there's plenty of space and floorboards so shouldn't get too much dust.

Once again a sincere thanks to a whole bunch of you guys for stepping in and walking me through the process.

Awesome!

I hope you get a ton of enjoyment from it.

What are the first games you’re going to play?

BG3 was the reason I wanted a PC to begin with, so thats already downloading. After that I'll have to see. I've got GamePass Ultimate through my Xbox so I'll get that set up at some point tonight.

Yeah tell me about it. I've got a 7800x3d in my cart at the moment and I'm sitting on it, contemplating a move to AM5. Then it will force me to get the rest of the parts eventually even if I'm in no immediate rush.

It's a good time to start chipping away at it with the sales coming up. An AM5 build would be awesome. I want to reuse my Nuka Cola case, so I need to inventory what parts I can keep and what I need to swap in

It sounds like we aren't getting another gen of graphics cards until 2025 and with the CPU bottleneck trend looking like it's going to continue I don't think I can (no, I can, but won't lol) wait until 2025 for a full new build. Scorptec have the 7800x3d on sale at the moment but that only makes it the same price as everywhere else. Being so new I can't see that getting a discount soon so I'm probably just going to get that and sit on it. I think I know everything else I want so will just keep an eye out for sales.

Then I'll have full budget for whatever the flagship RTX 5000 is when they come in 16-18 months.

My 2080super does pretty well for 1440p but I am definitely on the lookout for a 4080 in the next year. CPU is currently good for another few years (12700k)

Also on a side note - and I have googled around for this - I recently upgraded to another nvme in addition to my Samsung 980 (new one is a crucial) and have noticed huge usage spikes while gaming. It usually peaks around 20-30% usage however when it shoots up to 100% I see my fps drop to 0 and it stutters really bad for a few seconds. I will get the occasional ctd with no error message too

I have my OS (windows 10) on my 980 and all my games on crucial. I have seen others have similar issues, however the solutions haven’t been visible to me as they seem to be for laptops and pertaining to power plans and nvme cooperation

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
