Well f**k woke up this morning and found my PC off and refusing to turn on, and a burning smell coming from the PSU, I unplugged my GPU and could get the system powering up with my old 750W PSU, so it's bye bye 12 month old Corsair RM1000x.

I got it online from PC Case Gear so warranty may take a while, I reckon I'll just go grab a HX1200i and be done with it, it's an expensive beast but I can't see anything I like the look of that I can go grab today.

That's nuts, only 12 months old. RMx is an A tier line that should only fail to a manufacturing fault in that time so at least you should have no issues getting a refund.

Awesome, walked to Centrecom only to find it was suddenly out of stock and replaced with the same model only $50 more. Had to walk another 20 minutes to get to Umart which I swear had stock earlier but didn't, so I just grabbed the same model that blew up.

At least there's a microbrewery across from Umart so not all was lost

Geez reckon I'd be flat broke if I lived anywhere near there. Continual impulse buys on both sides of the road lol

Accidentally picked up a 5070 ti for Crimson Dawn. Hoping to get a fair return on my 3080.

Eta- And duh, obviously I meant crimson desert. Idiot.

Just on Crimson Desert I watched this DF video earlier today and it made excited that it's sounds like it's one of the first times my 5090 is truly going to get to stretch its legs. So far it has just brute forced performance out of everything. I didn't get a 5090 because I'm "rah rah no fake frames!" and just wanted to force native resolution, I wanted to leverage all the NVIDIA tech to get higher performance at lower loads. So far the PC demo footage has been on a 9070xt at Ultra settings at native 4K and still looks awesome. There is a higher cinematic setting so if I can get that to run at a decent frame rate and it has frame gen I'm just going to lock it at something to cap my 240hz monitor while running at less load. Sounds like Ultra will be a breeze but I'd even happily use an upscaler on cinematic if it's that much better at eliminating things like pop-in. That's the reason I splurged on a 5090.

You should've sniffed some rosemary.

Haha yep. It was this video and ray reconstruction examples which led me to Scorptec.

Have had the pull my pc apart and rebuild it itch for a while now, ending up devolving into let's build an entire new pc from the ground up.
So naturally I've gone over the top.

Debated a 5090 for weeks but just couldn't justify a gpu costing more than this entire build. Runs like a dream tho, Flux Pro best case I have ever built in, build quality was top notch and thermals have been incredible.

Is 2x16gb 6000cl28 going for as much as a 5080 yet?

When hardware becomes dull and/or scarce, just turn to ragebait and scandals. The Current Affair of hardware channels.

It's all they do anyway, it's just more noticeable and random when the industry is in a lull. They'll be back to FaKe FrAmEs!1!1 style crap soon enough.

They've started on DLSS 5 so instead of fake frames it's fake graphics. These channels have rabid following and everyone just repeats what they say like it's gospel. Richard Leadbetter received death threats for Digital Foundry's coverage of DLSS 5. That's so ****ed. Gamers are so unhinged. I think full AI renders like DLSS 5 is where I will draw the line on this sort of stuff (*though it might be a neat novelty to apply to old games as a free remaster) but it's not like it makes me angry to the point I need to make death threats against a journalist. Not that I'm blaming GN directly but it's channels like them that stir up this sort of thing.
