Yep - obviously the coaches measure Worpel, Scrimshaw and all other players on that 0 - 4 points sliding scale.

It’s actually a very common way to cast votes.

Has been used at elite levels for a couple of decades as I understand it.

If people are scratching their heads,
the key metric the fan may not be able to measure / appreciate is defensive work off the ball and/or opponent responsibility.
Which Sam even called out in his speech showing a few highlights, that consisted of a Connor MacDonald chase where he didn't catch the ball carrier, and Blake Hardwick running from half forward to the defensive goalsquare, and not getting the ball or being involved.

That's what playing your role is all about, being where you need to be at any given time, and doing the right thing.

Thanks.

Completely agree with the full board of votes.

It’s an accurate reflection IMHO.

Remember, the coaches have the time and ability to watch the footage after the game and assess each player according to what is very transparent criteria.

You don’t play your role or get beaten - 0.

Play your role, beat your opponent - 1.

Have a significant influence on the game - 2

Best player(s) on ground - 3

Absolute dominant BOG - 4

Well done Gunner and all other award winners.

Where abouts on the website? That link that just opened the homepage.

Was curious to see how Harry Morrison polled.

Does anybody see any correlation between PCM votes and a players value or standing at the club?

Take Worps for example. He ranked 20th in the year where he was offered an underwhlming contract and subsequently leaves.

I feel like it does.

Out of that top ten, apart from Moores 3rd place finish, the results that surprises me the most was Meek finishing 10th (I thought he was a sneaky chance to win it) and Watson finishing above Meek in 9th.

Thought Meek was one of our most consistent players all year whilst The Wiz was a bit hot and cold (not a knock on him as he's only 20 and playing small forward).

The PCM is generally very good at getting it's winner correct (Gunners was a very worthy winner) but it does sometimes throw up some surprising results in the top ten.

Problem for the ruck is that even if you have an okay game, you aren't getting a vote for beating your opponent against Max Gawn. So there were a few games where he was beaten by his direct opponent and a bunch where he dominated like against Collingwood.

Someone like Hardwick or Moore, will always get points for play your role or beat your opponent, as they are so consistent in that area. Even if Moore isn't kicking goals or getting a lot of the football, he's always where he needs to be doing the right thing.

Makes sense that Gunners won it so easily, he made some AFL key defenders look like Ammo Division D hacks at time this year.

It was actually entertaining watching some big hulking athletic defenders who generally rely on their size and athleticism get taught a football lesson by crafty Uncle Jack (ten years older and ten kilos lighter)

They honestly had NFI what he was doing at times, most amusing 🤣
