In some ways this is way worse.

Pearl Harbour was attacked because of its military installments.

This attack is an act of terrorism with thousands of civilians killed.

And with Pearl Harbour at least the US knew who had attacked them.

This is a tragic day and makes me realise how lucky I am to live in Australia. Let's pray that this level of terrorism never reaches our shores.

My thoughts are with everyone touched by this tragedy.

What is wrong with the world?

If I might quote somebody (an American) from a mailing list I read:

I'm getting disgusted with the Pearl Harbor comparisons. Pearl Harbor was a military strike on a military target, and most definitely the US had some warning.

This is a terrorist (or new military, depending on what book you read) attack on civilian targets using civilian hardware. Therein lies the difference.

Given that war was the result of Pearl Harbour - what will be the result of this?

There already was a war going on before "Pearl Harbour".

Their own. The US didn't get involved in the war of the pacific until the Japenese attacked Pearl Harbour.
