1. Neale had an arm free. Could have dropped the ball and protected himself but didn’t want to get holding the ball.

2. Didn’t warrant a HIA or even going off. Insufficient impact.

He couldn’t just drop the ball - the arm holding it was the arm pinned.

That same arm was also the one slammed into the turf - he could not possibly use his free arm to absorb the impact in any meaningful way, it was sky-side.

If you watch the replay, you will notice he does actually get his palm to the grass as his head hits the ground - but this is completely ineffectual in protecting him.

I agree that he should’ve gone off for a HIA - unfathomable given the current climate that it wasn’t required, when his head clearly slammed into the turf.
 
One game ban.

Kind of lucky given it’s the exact same tackle they are trying to stamp out.

**** him too after his Selwood/ginnivan type efforts just before the incident. Absolute cat.
