Great game .Deboer,Blackley,Moller and Zac all played great games.Moller is coming along in leaps and bounds and his contested marking is going to new levels.Zac showed why he won't be out of the seniors for long.
We seem to be playing him forward at Peel. Do you think he could hold a KPF spot for us ? .... FF ?

Would be such a bonus if Moller came on as a forward.
Right now I think Moller might be the best prospect we have for a KPF. He reads the play well and can read the flight of the ball quite well too. He took a terrific chest mark in the 3rd after a long surging run across the face of the goals 30m out. He seems a more natural forward than the Ape but it's early days yet for both of them. Hurley was at the huddle at 3/4 time with bandaging on his left calf. I hope we see more of him at FF this year.

Thanks for the reports PR.

Did you notice whether Weller was being tagged. After his start to the season, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was. Especially with his downturn in possies. I remember Neale battling with the same after a few good games.

Also, did anyone have a job on Colledge did you notice? His numbers were much lower than normal.

Thanks.

I will be ecstatic to be wrong about Moller.

Watching him last year he just floated around doing absolutely nothing and having no impact in the ruck, (apart from the game where he kicked a bunch of goals by literally staying 20m goalside at FF). It'd be brilliant if he can turn into the ruck/forward he seems to be hinting at.

I didn't notice any hard tags by either team. Weller's numbers were comparatively low but it was still a solid hitout for him. He tidied up nicely across half back a couple of times and ran really hard to get to marking contests and effect a spoil. He was much better than Duffield IMO.
I was looking forward to seeing Colledge and he started off quite brightly with a good centre clearance but I lost track of him after the first qtr. Not sure what happened to him.

Great write ups PurpleReign your comments about Moller reading the flight of the ball really interest me. It's a very rare skill for a big man to have, especially at such a young age. I'll have a look to compare him with Daniher size wise. His ability to even get his hands on the ball in a contest is exciting. Good 'Ol NicNat would kill for that skill.

Just had a look and Daniher is 201cm/90kg v Moller 205cm/94kg.
Hope to see him matched up on Dawson and Pearce at training! Would love to know what stage the club sees him at.

Daniher is way more physical in a marking contest than Moller, he protects his space quite well. A big bodied FB would push Moller off his line. However, Moller has a much better kick than Daniher. The thing I like about Moller in a pack mark situation is that he seems quite happy to work to the inside of the pack. It annoys me when Tabs tries to reach over the top of the pack and avoid body contact.

Moller looks like he's beginning to find some confidence with his body. He was involved in a couple of off-the-ball scuffles and didn't back down. Last year he would lose interest in the scuffle and trundle off to the next play but this year he's willing to duke it out a bit. He's a long way from playing for Freo but he is definitely moving in the right direction.

We had a yarn with Hurley and he has moved in with Fyfe.He told us he had never played in defence back home and was finding it challenging. He said he discussed it with Fyfe and Fyfe had a look at a video of him playing forward and made the suggestion to the coach to play him in attack. So is there nothing Fyfe can't do ,super coach now.:D

He is also good below his knees and has fair amount of pace for a big guy.

I have only seen Grey on the training track and occasionally on TV. To me his kicking looks to be a concern as far as having a career of any substance is concerned. I'm thinking it's on a par with that of De Boer or Kane Mitchell. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I know the guy who spotted Moller for us in Sydney. He was convinced at the time that Moller could be anything if he could get some confidence. I'm told he's a very good basket baller. Apparently a real introvert, and barely said a word initially. Word is that his old man used to ride the club hard about opportunities etc that his son should get, and was a real pest. may be a good thing if indeed they have moved over!

Great report PR, thank you.

My buddy Ballard definitely deserves upgrading to the main list next year. Week in week out he puts in a consistently good performance.

What do we reckon he'll need to improve upon to get a game in Purple?

Did Hurley play ressies Salim?

I suppose he caught up with Paddy Brophy for a pint of Guinness after the game too?

That is sort of response from Clakkas. 6 inside 50's is nothing to sneeze at.
Zac took the game by the scruff of the neck against Johnson a tough opponent something that the other rucks have not been able to do.
On his day he is a long way in front of Griff and Jack.

- For all thos having troubles with WAFL site, download the app 'Footy Live'. I use this, it has live stats for AFL, WAFL, VFL etc.

- Good to hear great things about Moller. Ill put my hand up and say I was a Moller basher.

- I suspect Weller may have the same troubles as Hill did, which is copping a tag and struggling to break it. Took Hill years to suss it out. Hill was was able to work through it in the AFL though.
