Not really sure it's something to laugh about as we'll go into 2018 with no recognised ruckman.
Sarcasm mate, sarcasm ;). We're screwed in the ruck man department, why did we even delist Moller if Clarke was only on a one year contract? Granted he was raw and lots of development left, but it's better that then relying on a 30 year old Griffin and Sandi.

Moller wanted to go play basketball. Apparently he was offered an extension on the rookie list but knocked it back. You can't make them stay.

Moller actually is playing for the Sydney Kings, Debuted for them in February against the Wildcats. Glad he's back in his home-state enjoying what he's doing.

“At times it was difficult playing for Peel every week and not really seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
don’t know if I liked it (basketball) more, but I was probably slightly better at it,” Moller said.
“It was such a good opportunity in the AFL so I took it when I could, and I’m happy that I did.
“But I’m happy now to be back playing basketball. It wasn’t something I thought of doing until Fremantle made the decision to delist me.”
Moller had interest from other AFL clubs last spring but opted out of the draft process to chase his hoops dream.

I think we need to chill a bit about the ruck department. We have Sandi next year and we could see him going another year after that possibly. Griff was a good backup to Sandi last year and could still go a couple more years if we need. Apeness is likely to become an even better backup ruck option (ie a better forward) once he's back up and going.

People have forgotten that Clarke did pretty well as a backup to Sandi in the first half of last year as well. But he isn't in the B22 because he isn't up to standard atm. Doesn't mean he couldn't earn his way back in before end of season still. If he leaves, it will probably be because of lack of opportunity, in which case he hasn't performed well enough to break into the B22 even when Sandi is out injured (ie we shouldn't want to keep him) and vice versa. I therefore don't see the issue if he stays or goes at the end of the season.

Clarke, Griff, Hannath, Apeness, Moller were/are probably never going to be satisfactory replacements for Sandi as the #1 ruck no matter what. We'll need to draft/recruit a decent ruck in the next two off-seasons regardless. Maybe one of those giants from America? :)

We should seriously look at some of those Americans as rookie rucks and give them at least a year to develop while 211 is still around. No point wasting high draft picks on rucks these days.
Of course Sandi will become ruck coach anyway after retiring.

"So to end the session, you are all going to ruck against me, and keep going until you win a hit out..."

We didn't sent a scout to the recent testing in the US so I doubt we'll pick one up.

I know but think that was a mistake. At least we did take Hurley, we seem to be a long way behind some clubs with international rookies and I suspect it is how much extra money they have to splash around.

I'd wait and see how Hurley's going by the end of the year before deciding on another international rookie anyway.

The chances of us getting a good US rookie are so low anyway. Most struggle with just the shape of a footy let alone how to play the rest of the game.

Way to crush my dreams :'( Now I need to go and watch one of the million over-the-top feel good American sporting movies to recover :rainbow:

Still think I'd prefer to be ahead of the curve and take a gamble for once rather than wait for every other AFL club to saturate the market with their propaganda first. The AFL recruitment video is a pretty funny watch btw...

I liked the footage from the testing day. Amazing vertical leaps, and smashing the sprints & stuff, then looking at a footy like wtf even is this? And their attempts to bounce it ahahahahhaa

I agree for KPPs but I'd take a chance on an athletic US ruck. These guys are huge, can leap, and can run - seem like ideal ruck prospects to me. And just an international rookie spot so no real risk.
Kobe Bryant is 198cm. Fairly athletic. Available.
