Caught half the game. Crowden the meatball was the standout for me. Elite by foot and his possessions were generally pretty damaging. Dropped an easy mark in the middle of the ground but managed to pick the pocket of the Claremont midfielder somehow and win the ball back. Loves the contest.

Agree with an earlier comment on Cerra's decision making. Has great vision by hand and foot. Looked the goods kicking inside 50 and switching sideways across the middle of the ground to find the right option. The "anti D Pearce".

Giro has no trouble finding the pill. Plenty of energy and toe. Disposal is ok - not terrible, not great. Too small to break tackles at this stage.

Darcy dominant with his ruck work.

Hughes rusty at times.

Thanks for the report. Surprised about Giro not slipping tackles as every training session I've seen he's surprisingly been able to elude tackles well. I guess the step up in intensity is telling but I thought at WAFL level he'd be alright in that area despite his slight build.

Remains an outside possibility our match committee is not as thick as supporters think.

Sat near Ross for the entirety of the game. Heard a bit of his convo.

Cerra looks very classy and moves well. Clean hands. Nice disposal. Got numerous clearances and first possession. Looks like he is building an expecting to see him debut early on in the season, probably after our first loss. I just felt he could have presented more in transition but got more involved in that as the game went on.

Crowden is just a bull and played with incredible intensity especially at stoppages. Nailed countless players in very strong tackles. A couple of times he was caught out holding the ball and made a couple of blues early in the second half however I think his game really impressed the coaches. Also had very good disposal at times and was just at the right spots roving packs hence we got off a few shots at goal. Also led at the ball carrier well. He has parts of his game he needs to work on but will be a good player in time.

I was impressed by Sam Switkowski as well. He chased, harassed, etc as expected but unlike Grey and Ballantyne, he had composure when ball in hand. I even heard Ross yell out “gee he looks composed doesn’t he”.

Tom North really battled hard and I felt improved as the game went on. Won plenty of contested possessions and did a lot of the hard things. He is still quite raw but has a big left foot as well so there is plenty to work with.

Scott Jones was a massive presence and launched at the ball several times. Dropped a couple of marks but I think the coaches enjoyed his game and his willingness to be competitive in the air.

Duman I thought struggled early and made some really bad decisions/ disposals. He improved in the second half but I think he will find it very tough to play an AFL game this season.

Nyhuis was solid but didn’t really pay too much attention to his game.

Darcy was dominant in the ruck but I still think he’s a bit rusty after his calf injury. He’s probably not impacting as much he was late last season but expecting him to continue to improve week to week as his match fitness increases. We know what he can do so good just to get some more run in the legs. Spent some time forward but didn’t really impact too much.

Giro was everywhere, ran really hard and found plenty of the ball. Also tackled with intensity. Unfortunately his disposal was not as good as it has been and just needs to work on tidying up his game. He’s got a bit about him though and think he may get a few games this year.

Sheridan was Sheridan. Led the youngsters well and gave plenty of advice/ on field coaching. Ran hard and made a couple of saving tackles. Unfortunately for him though his disposal and decision making wasn’t great and got progressively worse as the game went on.
