2nds Peel Thunder 2019

There's not much connection around the clearances although it got a bit better towards half time, but these players hardly know each other from week to week.

Crowden out, Banfield back, Howlett and Valente in there today played less than a handful of WAFL league games between them this season, Meek rucking last week, Jones this week (contesting strongly) - and on top of not training with the other Peel players - it becomes a cobbled together team week by week depending on who is available. Must be a nightmare to coach.
Said this time and time again. We need to train the Peel lads together twice a week, need to invite them. At evenings as most players from Peel work.

Just too tall, too mobile, better organised, too classy. Simple as that. Really, really disappointed but still think Carter and Sturt need to play firsts

Exactly how it is.

I watched bits of that today and really only Banfield and Duman looked AFL Standard, with Jones looking okay at time (needs to do more around the ground).

Our first year guys don’t look ready but you can see the odd piece of play that excites.

Duman was probably the best, because he took some saving intercept marks and apart from the odd clanger used the ball well by foot

Banfield put himself in the contest in a way that measured up physically to the opposition and won contests, but didn't use the ball very well

Jones busted his guts out in the ruck but there probably wasn't many taps to advantage, even when he provided a bit of follow up work after the contest there didn't seem like the mids were all on the same page as to how to extract the ball.

Shultz tried hard and put some pressure around the midfield contests but it usually didn't amount to much other than a scrappy kick forward out of the contest or tying the ball up for another bounce.

Thought maybe they could have used O'Reilly or Dixon up forward, but I guess they had nowhere else to play the other big fellow up there Pigott - who looked a bit unco.

We need to train Dixon as a forward. He’s show a bit there.

I know they like multi skilling players, but at least develop them in their natural position first.
Same stuff as trying to train/develop Cox over the pre season as a CHB..
Thought we were over this KPF trialing out as a backman when they should be a forward ala Pavlich in the middle and Mcpharlin up forward

Watching South Freo play WC at Freo oval last weekend there was a huge difference in player size and skills. Souths are one of the better WAFL sides going around and usually compete well but it was boys versus men, professionals versus amateurs.
It's no surprise to me that they were too good for Peel from what had happened versus Souths.
The WA football commission may well have created a monster that could derail the whole competition.
Interestingly WC had some supporters at Fremantle oval and a few of them were extremely obnoxious while sitting in Souths members area, more poor form when not a single one of them bothered to support the WAFL club by going into the bar post game as is the usual way at those games. More like a locust plague than a footy club at that level.
WC are way way better than any of the WAFL clubs atm so it will probably be a Subi v WC GF??

WC reserves have been hammered quite a lot this year. Really depends on injuries. Doubt a monster has been created. WCE AFL have had a pretty good injury run for a while. They had a bit of a spike a month or so ago and brought in Drew Petrie but now they have reduced injury list.

Freo just had one of those dismal weekends. Worst game all season for Peel and Fremantle. Will it be one of those weekends where we find out a virus swept thru? Played both games so fumbly, wastefully and without any energy.
