Because I'm not a coward........and I'll ignore some of the more offensive stuff directed my way.

1. I'm gutted. I don't know Pell personally. I've met him a couple of times. He's a kind of aloof bloke. That's as much as I know personally.

2. I'm gutted because of what this means for him personally, and for anyone else who gets accused and is on the wrong political side.

3. I won't express my reasons for disgust at the majority judges. But I am disgusted. And there are plenty of non-Catholics who share that disgust.

4. For those celebrating. Some for personal reasons. Some political. Good luck to you.

5. An innocent man is and will (at least until a High Court appeal finds otherwise) continue to be in gaol for a crime he couldn't have committed and that is an absolute indictment on our society.

You can't possibly be as disgusted as the rest of us are, at the defending of a pedophile.

he's guilty - and may he rot in the hell he believes in.

Your post is everything that is wrong with all current public discourse.

You are presenting it as fact that Pell is innocent and reality you have no idea.

YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EVIDENCE.

Very few people have.

YOU DONT KNOW AND STOP PRETENDING THAT YOU DO.

I have spoken directly to people who have. Who are senior enough to properly understand the issues. Who don't like Pell.

The characterisation of the complainant's evidence as "compelling" is bullshit. I have seen everything else, much of which was not even challenged by the prosecution. And I saw directly the Prosecution's closing. And accepting every word of the Prosecution's closing doesn't come close to defeating reasonable doubt.

Good man, got all those papers collected? For the inevitable, High Court!
More $$$$$$$$ Please!!!!!???????????????????????????????????????

Easy I had primary school friends that said similar of their once school masters! ( Lol! they called them... Brothers!????)
No Pell, wasn't MAYBE,? but he presided over a generation of SICK CORRUPTION!

Pity there is no HELL, he would be the shit stain, that ought go hypothetically there!

He had character references from two ex Prime Ministers.

You really a sick person.

Morrison backing away already. Libs protecting one of their own.
Interesting that Morrison said the decision to strip Pell of his honours is independent to the government. Back In February my colleague Paul Karp was told by the Prime Minister’s office that if Pell lost the appeal the prime minister would write to the Council of the Order of Australia recommending it review and revoke the honour, a decision made on its recommendation by the governor general.

PM to strip George Pell of Order of Australia honour if cardinal loses appeal

More senior than the Chief Justice and the President of the Court of Appeal?

Nah on teev Morrison saying process will start.

Yes. There is no realistic way he could have committed the offence. Certainly not unseen.

The defense rests your honour, case closed.

How could they all be so blind to the evidence. You may as well say 'Its Mabo, Its Justice, Its Law. Its the Vibe and ah, no that's it, its the vibe.'

2 to 1

Just shows the inadequacy of the legal system, where three experienced judges who put a lot of consideration into this couldn't agree on the outcome.
It ain't perfect but I'll take it over any other option on offer.

Assuming the guilty verdict is correct (its now judiciously correct) then the sheer arrogance of the molestation at the highest profile catholic venue in the country is astonishing. This after the organization already knew it had a problem that the publics view of what is acceptable compared to its own sub culture. Pell being at the centre of this.

By extension you could say the heirarchy looked the other way and it was 'business as usual'

No. The two judges of the Court of Appeal who upheld the conviction know every bit as well as I do that he couldn't have committed the offence.

OK, humour me, why did they dismiss his appeal - and don't say "politics" when he had two character references from ex prime ministers from the same party as the serving government.

First props for showing up.

While one can disagree with the decision of the court it is the ultimate arbiter of what is just.
