People are shocked that someone can be convincted on the testimony of one person - but the vast majority of people who have actually seen that testimony have found it absolutely compelling. Testimony is evidence. None of the 13 supposed obstacles were actually obstacles. All the evidence points to Pell being guilty. You've just confirmation biased yourself to the point that you disregard out of hand anything that doesn't support the conclusion you came to in advance of the evidence.
It's pathetic, and it would be funny if not for how serious this is and for how it affects other survivors. You are entitled to your opinion (notwithstanding what some have suggested) but you also deserve the ridicule and sneering that's been directed at you.
That was my point. Imagine if jimmy savile had been convicted and they put him in a nursing home with...elderly patients, dead bodies and visiting kids

He did see the evidence. And those I have spoken to who have viewed the complainant’s evidence described it as Weinberg did. Embellished and on occasion clearly a concoction.
The only reason I raised Deery is that he described the reaction at the verdict exactly as I did. Those who had followed the case were stunned. It was my anecdotal impression at the time for which I was ridiculed, even today, and yet there he writes of exactly the same impression.

I can understand you hanging your hat on Weinberg because the two other Court of Appeal judges found him very credible as the quotes in this thread show. So did 12 jurors. And Justice Kidd didn't appear to have major issues with him either.
In essence it came down to one persons word over another. One person with enormous power, influence and funding opposed by a simple unknown victim. The former was the one not believed.
Can't wait for the whole matter to be resolved so the redacted sections on the child abuse RC relating to the convicted peado see the light of day. Unless, of course, the Catholic Church acts to stop it.
