Hadley’s opinion isn’t surprising. He’s not a culture warrior as such, unlike Bolt or Devine whose whole identities revolve around their resentment. His conservatism is pitched at the gut.

Hadley is an active supporter of Bravehearts.

Yes. It's even possible that he accidentally left it unlocked throughout Mass.

Each of the matters alleged are "possible" in their own right. The odds of them all occurring simultaneously however are so remote as to be ridiculous.

And the idea that there was a 10 minute period immediately after Mass where someone didn't enter or leave the sacristy (other than the 3 allegedly there) is ridiculous.

The gentlemen was able to describe the room and if it was locked then the evidence would have been questioned however the evidence held and why is it impossible that no one entered, someone may have heard Pell's voice and thought he was busy so didn't enter the room.

The story that I have seen in several media outlets was that the first offense occurred after mass had finished because they had drifted from the others after it had concluded.

Suspected ruses are usually tested. So you need to be very good at it.;)

Mine was a domestic violence accusation; I mentioned that my work sees a lot of domestic violence victims and so I wasn't sure I could set prejudice aside.
Judge considered it for about 15 seconds then agreed that I should be excused.

Pattern of behaviour, the fact the mother of the other child said he’d never been abused. Part of the case for the defence, one just couldn’t decide, one could. All matters for discussion.
No, she didn't say that at all.
Trying to understand why her St Kevins scholarship son suddenly spiralled in to lifelong heroin addiction at the age of 14, she twice (at different times) asked him whether he had been abused by anyone, and he simply said no.
And he was never asked by anyone about the current victim's allegations as given in his court testimony.
Because, by then, he had died of a heroin overdose.
Which was partly what inspired the other victim to come forward with his evidence.

You mean the family of the other child now suing? Read Louise Milligan on that. Her interview with the Mum.

Very different.

You know the pattern I see. A bucketload of people lining up to make accusations against Pell and all those capable of independent verification turn out to be lies.

He was just convicted after independent verification.

Pretty much spot on. In my own experience, we had a class of probably around 25 boys. This prick of a Christian Brother had his way with just about everyone and we never discussed it outside of the room . Not the boys I hung out with. We knew something wasn't right and this guy made us feel dirty and sick to the stomach, but we just never told anyone. This freak was about 60 and I shudder to think how many boys lives he has destroyed. His message was that one little **** up in your life would cause you to burn to hell forever. Being in Grade 3, you believe that. It as a long time ago, but maybe we were too scared to tell anyone. If they thought we were lying, we were doomed to go to hell. The Principal was a bigger pedophile than the teacher, so we were pretty much in one hell of a shithole. We didn't have anyone at school to tell. I did not tell my family until nearly 40 years later.

Ah jeez mate, as someone who was educated by Christian Brothers for a while that sends chills down my spine.

Stay strong mate, you have the unshakable support of so many people.

He admitted he had been covering up pedo priests since the 70s and was just convicted by a jury of his peers of child rape.

We either have faith in our judicial system or we don't.

Everyone is reading between the lines here because very few people have actually heard the evidence.

However, if Pell's lawyer is arguing that the abuse is on some sort of lower level then that is accepting that the abuse happened. I am not sure how anyone can defend Pell in light of this.

Pell's own lawyer has stated that abuse happened.
Either way, someone needs to be the fallguy for the systematic sexual misconduct by Catholic priests.
I guess he should view his punishment if he feels it to be unreasonable as a sacrifice for all those others that ****ed little boys in the arse and didn't get punished

The fact that Pell was convicted verifies to the mother that the court found that he was abused, of course she should sue.

My point though was really that there was only one person’s word against another. The second boy never admitted that he was abused as verified by his mother. She suspects maybe his heroin overdose may have been linked and fair enough but still does not verify that there was a second witness.

I even find the sacristy evidence puzzling. The boys lawyer mentioned the choristers were banned from the sacristy so how could he describe it? Well the boys may have well snuck in there at times but doesn’t prove they were abused there.

Plus that ABC article quoted here mentioned that altar servers were always coming in and out of there so it’s not like the inside was some secret.

In his police interview (can be seen in full here https://www.theage.com.au/national/...view-with-police-in-rome-20190228-p510ue.html ) Pell says the sacristan or his assistant was always present in sacristy when it was open, otherwise it was locked.

Was this evidence given by sacristan and/or assistant at trial?

Yes same.

I read that with a similar Christian brother school experience and it is chilling

So you haven't read Milligan's piece with an interview on her.

This whole episode is a new low for right wing culture warriors in the country. The double standards are on obscene display for all to see, they're quite happy to denounce refugees as rapists and paedophiles while actively and vocally supporting one of their own who's actually been convicted. I doubt we'll see the Rodent rolled out as the Libs "secret weapon" come election time now either.

Did you ever read evo’s story about his Labor mate telling him Gough Whitlam was a paedo?

A largely excellent article. Aside from calling some abusers of chidren merely 'maladjusted'. Raises good.points about how catholics.get.their hooks into kids when they are too young and defenseless, and this is supported by the horrififc stories here.

Also questions the catholic special status as a state and notes how 'diplomatic immunity' has been used by the Church to slide out child abuse accusations.

A complete dismantling and reformation of the church that is still.run by the same people hiding and protecting their pedo priests is needed.

I find it interesting that Bill Heffernan was going to accuse a former PM of being a paedo using parliamentary privilege, but never did. Who stopped him?

Oh please there are many on the right who are appalled and very against what has happened in the Catholic organisation. I am one and I know at least a dozen others without even needing to think. However not surprised that you cant help taking advantage of the situation to attack those you are politically opposed to. Really doesn't surprise me at all.

Also speaking of double standards it is funny how dismissive you were when I commented on my sexual harassment from men yet here you are willing to lay the boots in and take moral high ground regarding the catholic church. Just a little bit hypocritical of you.

Where does this happen? Asking for a friend. Seriously though dude, if that's happening to you at urinals you're probably hanging out in the wrong sort of places.
In my 44 years on this planet this has never happened to me, unless I've been somewhere where I wanted it to happen. The only other time I've ever heard of it happen was when a guy, who I assume was blind, tried to proposition my old man when he was having a slash break during a run. Maybe you give off a vibe?

One general comment about Pell's defenders, they are all going on about how difficult it would be for Pell to undo his clothing yet I wonder how did the guy go to the toilet, surely he didn't wet himself.
I'm not Sherlock Holmes, but I might guess that he would go to the toilet before he put his robes on.

I'm sure they would of had access points so he could "go" while he was dressed.

That's a shocker of a defense.

Bolt, DeVile, Livingstone, Craven, Brennan.
And no show without Punch.
Today, the DLP's last gasp, Gerry Henderson.
Defending Abbott and Howard.

Bolt, DeVile, Livingstone, Craven, Brennan.
Many on the right would disagree with their position strongly. Just as many on the left will disagree with positions taken by hard line leftists. This still doesn't change the fact that gough is using the situation to play the politics game. A thing he has done on multiple occasionsd.

Yeah I have. Unfortunately it sounds like a lot of teenagers who struggle. Could have been any number of reasons as it is with many troubled teenagers.

Timme, 2 ex PMs and multiple powerful media apparatchiks have got behind Pell. It's only stating the obvious.

Don't do your usual whatabout bullshit.
