Many on the right would disagree with their position strongly. Just as many on the left will disagree with positions taken by hard line leftists. This still doesn't change the fact that gough is using the situation to play the politics game. A thing he has done on multiple occasionsd.
He simply stated the unimpeachable fact that these culture warriors have sunk to new depths.
Which you, de facto, admit.

A largely excellent article. Aside from calling some abusers of chidren merely 'maladjusted'. Raises good.points about how catholics.get.their hooks into kids when they are too young and defenseless, and this is supported by the horrififc stories here.

Also questions the catholic special status as a state and notes how 'diplomatic immunity' has been used by the Church to slide out child abuse accusations.

A complete dismantling and reformation of the church that is still.run by the same people hiding and protecting their pedo priests is needed.

It’s an archaic organisation that has failed miserably with keeping up with the times. Their handling of child abuse has been beyond appalling and downright criminal. Their treatment of gay people and women is also a disgrace.

I visited the Vatican as a curiosity as was appalled at the indulgence, they live a luxurious life. Jesus (if he was real) would have been disgusted.

I might describe the catholic church as many things, but "anarchic" ain't one of them. :)

Maybe they shouldn't be so quick to label others if they don't want the glaring inconsistencies in their positions highlighted.

It’s ironic that the organisation over its entire existence have gone against everything they preach, despite this their loyal followers still believe in the organisation.

Hypocrisy is underselling it far too much

Oh please there are many on the right who are appalled and very against what has happened in the Catholic organisation. I am one and I know at least a dozen others without even needing to think. However not surprised that you cant help taking advantage of the situation to attack those you are politically opposed to. Really doesn't surprise me at all.

Also speaking of double standards it is funny how dismissive you were when I commented on my sexual harassment from men yet here you are willing to lay the boots in and take moral high ground regarding the catholic church. Just a little bit hypocritical of you.
I hope you make the same point to the other poster bringing in an ex Labor PM into the discussion if it is about the politics.

Either way, someone needs to be the fallguy for the systematic sexual misconduct by Catholic priests.
I guess he should view his punishment if he feels it to be unreasonable as a sacrifice for all those others that ****** little boys in the arse and didn't get punished

And people wonder why some of us think Pell may have been wrongly convicted. People want him behind bars regardless of whether he is guilty of this crime or not. As someone once said, whatever it takes. That is not justice.

No he wasn’t. Convicted. Yes. Independent verification? No.
Define independent verification.

Surely you dont mean sexual abuse of children cannot be independently verified unless there is an eyewitness or the abuse is caught on candid camera.?. Surely.

And surely you dont mean that independent verification is that the offender admitted it to someone else...because as you know the catholic priests have an inbuilt failsafe called confession.

So what do you mean by 'independent verification'.

I recall how the church independently verified the existence of a witch. Throw her in a large body of water and if she floated she was a witch and burned. If she drowned she was just unlucky.

It seems you apply similar twisted to logic to accepting sexual abuse of children by priests occurs, and in particular, Pell.

If this is the plan Pell's lord has mapped out for his life, it must be clear to now by now that he's not held in particularly high regard by the woman he's spent his whole life trying to impress.
At least he will have his fellow pedos around to whinge about the unfairness of his life when he’s shipped off to the farm or to PC

It'll be like seminary school reunion.

Lol what would mean independent verification to you?

This is going to be good....
What the hell is independent verification in this context mean?

I got it he means the channel 7 cameramen in the lift!!

That's one of the problems with the one true church, walking in the shoes of the fisherman etc the belief you need tell people what they are doing wrong as a service and you can't be possibly wrong. Combined that no matter what happens saving the church and not it's people are the paramount of importance.

Don't be so sure of that I reckon he still thinks he's done a great job for the mother church, now he is a martyr. The current archbishop and his cronies won't dispute that view.

Timme, 2 ex PMs and multiple powerful media apparatchiks have got behind Pell. It's only stating the obvious.

Don't do your usual whatabout bullshit.
LOL at you of all people complaining about whatabout bullshit. You are notorious for posting whataboutism kidd vicious.

No, Timme. "But, Clementine".

Anyway, it's conservative ex PMs and media pundits who have inserted themselves into the Pell defense committee. If you don't want this political, tell them.

I like the idea of no longer recognising the Vatican as an independent state. Maybe if countries started doing that.
