LOL, duuuuuuuuuude. "As a Catholic who is #TeamPell, I think he'll get off and didn't do it."
Was talking to a journo mate about this, bloke is fairly well versed in stuff. His view is there's no way the cops and DPP would have even gone for it unless they were very sure they could get a verdict that would stand up.
Note the first jury didn't acquit.
He may well get off, but really, VicPol and our DPP are literally world experts in investigating and prosecuting historical child sex by Catholic clergy.
They got him. Got him good.
1. Former Catholic, really, but I'll cop to #TeamPell. I don't like mobs and it seems to me they've gone after the only bloke who actually stood up ended the abuse within the church in Australia.
2. Time will tell, but I disagree with your journo mate.
3. You need unanimity to acquit, just as you do to convict.
4. VicPol and DPP are also world experts in pursuing a political agenda which will become more clear in time.
5. You're right. They did "get him good." Not sure it's something to celebrate though if what they got him for is a creation. Would seem to do the cause more harm than good I would think (the cause being the ending of child sexual abuse).
