From what I observed, I don't think Judge Kidd expected a guilty verdict. He's doing an admirable job of presenting as though the conviction is sound.

He won't spend a single second anywhere general population though. He won't even get put in with the other high risk sex crime prisoners. He'll be on 23 hour lockdown indefintely, then if and when appeal lost, he will go out to Langi Kal Kal, basically a low security prison farm with a special section for clerical sex offenders.

Criminal defence lawyers are going to be representing guilty people at least as often as not and they are well aware of that when they take their job. Their motivation is usually to provide the best representation possible for their client. And cold hard cash of course.

Literally the lead columnist for the highest selling newspaper in the country, who also has multiple radio and TV gigs, was out straight away calling the conviction into question.

Kidd is a natural-born prosecutor, he always expects a guilty verdict.

I was just reading about his background. Very distinguished career.

I didn't realise that he had handled so many high profile cases, nor that he was appointed an International Prosecutor of the War Crimes Chamber of the State Court of Bosnia Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
