It is absolutely defensible.
It is ludicrous to imply, as you have, that the actions of few reasonably represent the vast majority of Catholics and or the Catholic Church generally.
So ludicrous is your reasoning, that if applied with the same level of irresponsibly, and absence of logic, it could just as unreasonably be argued that male homosexuals are generally, by association, as repugnant as pedophiles who share the same sexual orientation.

Oh really?

You see that's where people think the Catholic church, and organised religion, is pathetic and sad.

Associating same sex couples with pedophilia is the most ridiculous comments I've read and continue to read in these threads.

Along with defending a pedo priest.

Youre trying to find a similar link so you can defend a corporation that has always been about power and control is absolutely insane.

The conduct of the hierarchy (and trust me I’ve got first hand knowledge) makes the entire organisation and by default those that attend it part of the problem. It is a truly putrid organisation that meets similar criteria to outlaw bikie gangs. Hypocrisy is their hallmark and in terms of defending the indefensible - they do it on a whim, they wouldn’t know how to lie straight in bed. And in time they’ll get what they deserve.

Without intending to belittle your apparent preoccupation with the concept of corporate entity, and associated power, go back and read what my post stated; rather than what you wanted it to state.

Are you Australian?

I think he differentiated rather than associated didn’t he?

Yes really.
Pathetic.
You embrace the sacrement and the absolution and continue to defend this shit.
Anyone with a backbone would walk away.
But Catholics, to this day, still think that they aren't tarnished by this utter disgrace which has continued for decades and has been actively covered up by their robe wearing idols.

Hang on. Why are Catholics tarnished? Are you tarnished by the Government institutional abuse?

It appears you dislike Catholics, the Catholic faith; and...... Vegans.

Yes - what does it matter?
It matters because, as an Australian living under the Westminster legal system, many of the institutions that regulate and protect much of your personal rights have been undeniably influenced by the organisation that you refer to as "a truly putrid organisation that meets similar criteria to outlaw bikie gangs."

No organization is perfect and or beyond reproach, but your criticism is more than a little extreme.

Absolutely I am.
If you can't fathom the difference I pity you.

No, I dislike people who put their faith above humanity, for the sake of their faith,
The propensity of your church, and its followers, to put its position above and beyond the welfare of its victims is very well known by all and, most importantly, by its blind sheep.

You have no idea of my circumstances you ignorant fool - go and say a few hail mary’s and it will all be better, or maybe ask old mate Holy Spirit for some guidance...and while you’re there ponder this - what did he tell the Bishops worldwide when CSA reared it’s head? Clearly he told them to cover up, because they all did, or they all followed directives from Rome, because they all did, or it’s all a massive heap of shit - take your pick!

I'm going to let this slide.

I saw an interview on TV the other day with a retired Aboriginal footballer.

He talked about the rampant abuse and violence committed against Aboriginal youths by the state “until the Catholics took over. Thank God the Catholics took over” were the impressions left to this bloke by his parents.

This does not in any way justify the abuse by Catholic clerics against children. Nor it’s cover up. Nor does it lessen the impact for victims.

What it does say is that institutional child sexual abuse is not exclusively, or even mostly, a Catholic thing. It’s an access thing. And it’s a handling thing.

And this idea that if you just take out the Catholic Church or, in this instance, Get Pell, you’ll come close to resolving the issue is dangerous.

Seriously?
State abuse of children, especially indigenous children, was sanctioned and promoted in the main by religious types within Government.
The 'natives' couldn't possibly take care of themselves and 'needed' religious guidance.
Just because at the time the State ran the institutions, don't believe for a minute that anyone other than religious/christian institutions were behind the policy.
Look no further than Cherbourg in Qld, very close to where I live, and places like Bindoon and New Norcia in WA.

Following his expulsion from the Ballarat Diocese, Paul David Ryan was given a Separation Certificate from the then Vicar General of the Ballarat Diocese - the now Bp Brian Finnigan, allowing him to obtain then Social Security Benefits and then go on to teach and work with children in Arnhem Land...join the dots. In a few weeks time when that bomb goes off they won't be saying "Thank God for the Catholics"
