Pendleburys Debut

looked very impressive, some quality touches.could have easily ducked his head when he took his first mark then goal but he didnt.definetly licked what i saw and you can see the similarities with dal santo.going to be a gun

IMO he still has a long way to go. I watched him when he first came out onto the ground and he just looked lost. He did show some guts though taking that mark in the forward line and then kicking the goal, which btw, what a great way to kick off an AFL career with your first stat ey? But other than that he just looked lost to me. His other possessions weren't great either, causing a turn over while going into our forward line with a bad kick, and then again in the last quarter fumbling in the back line trying to be a little tricky.
Nonetheless his skills will improve with experience, as will his confidence and presence on the field. I do look forward to seeing him become a more established player, but I just think he has a long way to come just yet.

Wasn't on the ground that much but it was still a Solid debut

Great signs i thought, has courage i would say has skill i would say and is very evasive as predicted and poise! i think if you give him a handfull of games now he will contribute well next season!

fnds the ball well also!

great pick up!

Fair debut. Nothing too much, but showed enough. Has confidence, as seen in the last minutes taking on McGrath in the back pocket and getting caught. Also took on Akermanis, and beat him, shades of Thomas vs McLeod :D

Good to see him in that group of players who have kicked a goal with their first kick.

If I recall correctly Dale Thomas had a chance to kick a goal with his first touch against Adelaide, but put it out on the full.

Pendles was alright, nothing too flash, didn't like him trying to run around 5 brisbane players in defence, even if the game was over. Did enjoy seeing him put Aker on his arse though.

egans first 3 kicks were out on teh full! he showed great poise to score! i thought it was great that he took em on in his first game! he will only get better! WIth injuries to Cara, maxwell swan and hopefully not fraser he should get a regular game to the end of teh season. he will excell in leaps and bounds will be great viewing!

Yes, was going to mention Ego, guess who else put their first kick out on the full? Mr Peter Daicos. I'm sure one of the five-six year players also joined that club.

(I am by no means comparing Egan with Daicos. Far from it. Egan has been a massive disappointment if reports out of Lexus are to be believed re work ethic)

He wasn't? I could have sworn that there was only one fit player on the bench and that meant that he played most of the remainder of the game after he came on in the second quarter. Regardless, he did look good promising.

He had a solid debut, how good does he extract the footy from congestion it even suprised our player not expecting it.With a full pre-season under his belt he would not of been caught by Mcgrath with that extra bit of strength in his legs he would break free.He looked a little lost at times but on the flip side he also positioned himself well on most occasions and was loose running through the centre but he was ignored and the ball was kicked to a contest on the HFF and turned over ,both times he could of had a run through the center if only the 2 said players went inboard.

No, I liked that about his game, he has the guts to take on those players and although he was caught once at least he went for it and wasn't intimidated.

I was pleased with his debut, did some nice things and has a lot of promise to be a very good footballer, a fair way off of course but he can play that's for sure.:thumbsu:

loved his "mark" in front of john brown, only for it to be touched off the boot!

also in a way it was good that he was pinged for holding the ball in that he will learn that he is playing against men now & it is a big step up from u18 where he would have easily got around the player

impressed

His miskick in the middle was due to cramp. It was also his quick feed out of a pack that set up a goal for Buckley. That is what you can expect from him constantly, quick feeds out of packs that set up plays. When he got caught by McGrath it showed exactly what our youngsters have been taught to do by Richardson, and that is show some flair. It's what we want, it is what has gotten us to the position we are in now. Just wait until he gets used to the pace of the game. He will be a superstar of the competition and every bit as good as Dal Santo.

He's no Thomas though.

i beg to differ, pendlebury will be twice the player Thomas is, having said that Thomas is a gun, but never underestimate the value of skillful elusive ball magnets as pendlebury is....watched him alot at under 18 level and thought he should definitely have gone top two..... good win on saturday night and great signs for the pies with both old and young.....good luck.

I agree, pendles will be better than thomas.. but thomas will be a star none the less.... lets just be thankful we will have 2 stars

Its called confidence. I actually liked the way he got around 4 of them. Just that fifth one got him, but getting around 4 of them, is an exciting thing, coz he was confident. Definetly impressed, puts a bit more bulk on, could be a chris tarrant???maybe....Dal Santo mixed with Tarrant,, ooooooo *FERGA CALM DOWN*

In my humble opinion, the fact that we can be critical of a good pick up such as Pendlebury is pretty telling on our current depth. You only have to scan the other team boards to see how desperate some of them are to talk up their new recruits. E.g. Roos board comparing the loss of Jesse Smith who played a handful of games last year and none this year to the equivalent of Weagles losing Judd.... I mean even in our darkest hour last season... we wouldn't have done that........... would we?????
Unbelievable that this season we are looking at such a classy recruit and able to assess him in relation to the superb performance of the rest and not have to talk him up beyond what he contributed.
Gotta love that!!
