NAB Rising Star nominee Adam Treloar has revealed the secret weapon in GWS Giants' development arsenal: Magpie Scott Pendlebury.
The 19-year-old Giants midfielder went head-to-head with the Collingwood star at Skoda Stadium in round 18, amassing 37 disposals to be a shining light in the home side's 20-goal loss.
Treloar said it was a dream come true to play on "the best midfielder in the game", who also appears to have a future in coaching.
"He was giving me a few tips, telling me where to run," Treloar said of Pendlebury.
"I ran there and got the footy, so it was pretty lucky."
The free masterclass was news to his Magpies' football and coaching strategist Rodney Eade.
"I haven't heard that from the weekend," Eade said during his weekly appearance on FOX FOOTY's AFL Insider.
"I imagine it was probably the last 10 minutes of the game - hopefully it was the last 10 minutes of the game.
"Pendles is that sort of guy as well. The fact that we were 15 or 18 goals up, he was able to help the young lad.
"You wouldn't like that normally, I wouldn't have thought."
Treloar on Tuesday became the Giants' sixth NAB Rising Star nominee for the season, so it's fair to assume the Pies won't be offering the talented expansion side a leg-up for much longer.

Good sportsmanship. Eade should stfu its not like it made a difference to the game.
