Pendlebury is just about the best midfielder in the competition. Only Ablett has claims to being better at the moment. Just can't get over how good he is. Can't remember the last time he didn't stand up in a big game. To play that final quarter injured like he did and win the game is something Collingwood fans will remember for a long time to come.

Re: Pendles last gaol

If by some miracle i had a girl friend, i would not dump her for spending the night with pendles.

damn right, I'd make her tell me every detail about the smooth moving evening...

also Pendles was the one in position for the Fasolo handball and would have run through the 50m for a shot

Re: Pendles last gaol

Not sure if anyone has posted this or not but in an interview on Triple M in the rooms after the game, Pendles said that he in fact wasn't going for goal but was trying to kick it over the pack of Dawes for him to run onto.

Either way it was a huge moment. I like him having the confidence to go for goal. In the past he would often get the ball in the forward 50 and his first reaction is to look for someone to pass it off to when often they are in a harder position to score than himself. He is one of our best kicks so I reckon if he can get a clear shot at goal he should go for it.

Pretty much exactly what Pods did from the centre.
Luck of the bounce.

Cest La Vie.

I erupted off the couch and the name on my lips was.....Pendles.:D

Several LOL's later...

I'd compliment her on her good taste in men [yes, that's plural]

Re: Pendles last gaol

Can they just hurry up and give him the brownlow?

He's a f**king superstar of biblical proportions.

Also, what's with all the "I must adit, I did ______" posts? Don't you guys fist pump/yell/jump up etc. normally?

Man, I even jumped up watching the replay after coming home.

Totally agree! No supporter (especially collingwood supporter) should go a game without a fist pump. Seriously.

On Pendlebury.... Sure he has around 12-16 brownlow votes already???
I reckon he's a shoe-in pressuming he stays fit. He'll be just those few votes ahead of Swan, Ablett, J Kennedy, etc.

It may not have been deliberate, but what he was doing was setting us up for getting a score, any score. Worse case was that Dawes got a toe on it and soccered through a behind. That would have put us 7 points in front with 40secs to go, which would have sealed the game.

It was just smart play.

I don't think Watson has any competition for votes at Essendon since umps give votes only to centre square players, he would have about 15 so far.

Re: Pendles last gaol

Stanton has had some number of 30 possession games in a row??

Yeah Stanton would have to steal a few votes this year. Having an absolute stellar season but it's his first stand out so there's a chance he may not have got the umpire's attention early. Could be up there with Pendles, Swan and Kennedy. Watson has been great too.

Selwood has been great but missed a couple of games I think and the Cats are 4-4. Ablett similar situation with missed games and losses.

Re: Pendles last gaol

By far and away the best midfielder in the game.
Kicks goals, works both ways, gets the ball inside & out, ball use is twice as good as Judds, about 15% better than Gazza's & Great over head.

He is such an amazing player! I went nuts when he took the final minute into his own hands, took on the responsibility and just nailed it!

Hope he has plenty of years we us at the Pies! :thumbsu:

Anybody figured out how far out he was when he kicked that goal? 70m?
He was still a couple of metres inside the centre square when he kicked it and it bounced about 5 metres out so at a guess you would have to say around 65 metres.

To those who had any doubts about his inside qualities - he is the guy who gets first touch on the ground and gets it rolling our way THEN he runs to make himself available and FINISHES.

Just a sensational player, the complete midfielder.

When you have players that stand up to be counted like Pendlebury you win flags. Watch him at AAMI without Swan in the side. He will be the obvious tag target and will get plenty of attention. He will soak it up. Don't know if we will win but the whole footy world knows the work that The Crows will be putting into Pendlebury and I expect him to be our best regardless. We might just see the confirmation the competition's best player on Saturday.

I have him with Brownlow votes in all but the Carlton match. Probably not in my top 3 v Brisbane but thereabouts and I reckon the umpires favour players with form. Wouldn't be surprised if he has 14 to this point.

Leading the awards for both major papers.

Has been a star since day dot, and I've been on the band waggoon the whole time.

Not a fan of Dennis in that passage of commentary.

Footy barracks for Collingwood - didn't he watch the Pods goal - at least this one bounced straight, not at right angles (Pods one reminded me of Leroy)

Not the most athletic run - I'm sure you'd look worse without your hair piece (almost blew off after 2010 GF). Eddie should sue for defamation, he actually jogged quite well given his suit...

Re: Pendles last gaol

Been a forgorn conclusion for a while, will be skip next year. As with other bretheren, i too was fist-pumping after that beautiful moment in our lives. Even got the chainsaw out and the way i was pulling that cord, the sucker would have started on electric friction alone.

Chainsaw??? You weren't trying to emulate your other sporting hero Brett Lee by any chance?

Awesome goal by Pendles, will captain next year after Maxi hangs up the boots...
