... Murphy, BoG/ 10 Coaches' votes/ 3 Brownlow votes ;) .

(OP heavily Edited --- sipping on a bottle of Glayva was not conducive to good posting).

I want --- I really, really want --- the Crows to beat Collingwood tonight as much as I wanted us to get the 2017 Flag, and by as much or more than we belted the ferals on the night of that Flood.
The downside of that is Nicks' being vindicated for his worst ever Selection, when some imagination and daring was called for to add youthful spirit and in-form energy to the side.

There can be only one great outcome, namely that we win by 10+ goals (EDIT: but I'll take a win of any size)
because
Murphy cops 5+ games for concussing Naicos with one of his flailing-arms-and-legs unrealistic marking attempts just after the first bounce.
It'd mean we win and Murphy cannot be selected again in 2025 <== an old man can dream :shoutyoldman: :sneaky:.

Biggest game since 2017. Big enough that I'll drag myself out of bed at 2.30am local time to watch it live.

On form this should be a comfortable win. But this has that mythical "Collingwood win with their backs to the wall" written all over it. They've been able to get up for games like this for years.

In contrast, we've been susceptible to the kind of manic pressure we assume they're going to bring. Maybe they will, maybe they can't any more. I suspect we'll know within 5 minutes.

Really hope this can be a statement win for the ages but I fear the Pies, on their last roll of the dice, will live to fight another day and we'll have to save the drought breaking win for a final.

Interesting game for both teams.

For Crows, result doesn’t really matter. We should finish first or second regardless, and it almost looks like it might be more beneficial to finish second for an easier week 1 opponent - but that’s far from given. Most important is belief and get the Collingwood hoodoo off our back. Lose, and we may never think we can beat them, which isn’t great if we meet them a few weeks later.

For Collingwood, a loss here would almost be season over. Very possible to miss top 4 and I don’t think they can turn their form around. Win, and they’re back to beating a contender at home and can build for their run to the flag.

Either way, hope it’s going to be a great game.

I was quite confident of a win before selection night. I know one player shouldn't really impact the result but its more the mentality. We have decided to bring in someone who is clearly not up to playing at this level anymore as he is a good guy and does lots of little things nobody notices... crazy selection.

Going by recent form we should win this, Pies have been pretty ordinary recently, but they will be ready to throw everything at us tonight. They will be desperate to win this one to avoid falling out the top 4. Hopefully after our performance last week we come out switched on and bring the pressure from the start.

Crows by 13, but not very confident

This is on the money.

I’m fascinated why anyone would think the Pies would win by 3+ goals?

There has been no evidence they are capable of that against us over the past 4 years at Adelaide Oval when we literally stunk in 2021 and 2022.

Our last three games against Collingwood @ Adelaide Oval have been decided by 5, 5 and 1 point. And in each case, we have been inaccurate.

We will win this.

Yeah, at a guess I think we will be up by 5 goals at half time and will win comfortably. Could obviously imagine a loss in a close one as well, but can't really see a significant loss. Last 5 games have all been decided by 10 points or less, and Collingwood are out of form. We should be right in the contest, and will start deserved favourites.

As much as I think the Murphy and Schoenberg selections are wrong I dont think its that much of a game changer

I still see us winning this by 1-2 goals

I wish selection was different but it isnt

Pies can be broken in the first half, we have seen it before. Nicks must get us playing fearless footy and give them both barrels.

Our forwards should monster their defenders.

Take a lead that even an inevitable comeback attempt cannot overcome.

The crowd there tonight plays a role. They need to set the tone that makes the Collingwood players feel like there is no escape. Dont fall silent even if we fall behind. Everyone has to play a part in showing them that things are different.

Taking them mentally will go a long way to removing a threat come September if we can break their spirit by belting them in a week where the footy media have basically coached them into taking a last defiant stand.

I’m a full time pessimist and am surprised that people are thinking the Crows can win this in a canter.

People are expecting them to leap back after their lethargic performance last week. But I see the opposite. I see Collingwood coming out breathing fire, kicking the first five goals, with the Crows struggling to catch up, then fading away in the last quarter, after the short break and the trip to Perth.

Hope I’m wrong. 😑

Biggest minor round game since 2016 vs Eagles

Hopefully a different result
Sort of torn on this. In some ways it feels like a big game, mainly because it's Collingwood, but in other ways it's not particularly consequential. My ladder predictor has us finishing on top if we win and playing Brisbane at home in week 1, or finishing 2nd if we lose and playing GC at home in week 1. We could even finish top either way depending on other results. It probably doesn't change much, and I think the Hawthorn game at home was bigger in the context of our season.

Big game for Collingwood though. Top 4 probably on the line.

Your wording implies you're upset at the Smith selection.

Because I do not know when Murphy was ever up to scratch.

you do mean Murphy right? right?
