Feels like we've bottomed out percentage wise but not ladder position.

we are one of, if not the worst offensive side seen in decades in the AFL.

When was the last time Essendon belted a team?

Youd be going back years and years

Not just offence. If you continually finish in the bottom three defensively then you are basically chasing the opposition for large parts of the game.
To top it off we have not exactly been a side loaded with endurance.
Pop gun forward line. Poor team defence. Lack of endurance running.
No real shock we don’t smash sides.

nah its not shock at all, just a fact of life.

yep - Worsfold and Rutten at least gave us one season of false hope each, Brad hasnt even managed that!

In fairness to Scott, the proverbial van only had half a tank of fuel when he got the keys.

Its not like we gave him the van with a full tank and he returned it half empty.

Nic Martin said something along the lines of ‘you don’t smash anybody in this competition’. I think he was just trying to say that there are no easy games, but it just sounds terrible and lacking in any confidence

WC and North in recent years would contend with the worst teams of this century and I don’t think we’ve had a single ‘smashing’ victory.

excellent thread boncer34 !

2015 - 15th - Hird

2025* - 15th - Brad Scott

seems we are going nowhere under Brad
And Dodoro was the list manager for which of those years?

So now we're not winning by enough. Don't ever change millenials
Let's not start with generations. The older generation look back to the "old days" when Essendon won by 100+ points and were constant premiership contenders. We don't know a thing about that Essendon.

All of my football memories are having the supposed "privilege" of seeing us scrape by the spooners and watching us compete for 8th with a negative percentage on the back of narrow wins against bottom sides.

If we're not going to win finals let alone a premiership, at least let me see 70+ point wins against bottom sides like everyone else. Even St Kilda managed an 82-point win this year.

How many of us can say we stood by Truck?
I did and I still stand by it. Have the receipts. Removing him when they did was pretty ridiculous in hindsight too irrespective of whether he was the best longterm option because it effectively allowed the players to dictate who stays and who goes. Only now do they admit list management was a problem.

I suppose I did take my melts a little too far haha.
Idiots. The way they treated Rutten needs real consequences. Everyone that supported his sacking and treatment need to be cleared from the club. If people thought Essendon were currently a basket case, the real basket case will come in the next decade.

I’ll follow Rutten out of this rotten club until each and every one of the people involved also leave. Until then, they can have this club and their Hirdy. I won’t be a part of it.

Also missed

Round 22 2021
Essendon 14.14 98
Gold Coast 4.6 30

So that's 10 since 2013 and 7 of them came in 2017 (3) and 2021 (4).

Tracking our pathetic % is currently more interesting than watching the latest games. We're only 2 years into Brad's 8 year rebuild plan...and we've already been warned about tempering our expectations of success. So expect more of the same.

At least Merritt is getting support on how to manage the captain's burden. Lots of knowledge about our history of rubbish % at that meeting:

The same thing is happening now as the late 70s with Timmy, Van der Harr, Madden, Hawker etc. It was just as frustrating back then as well
