Yeah he was kinda trying to write it off as a bit of a Bob Beamon moment. Was funny when Merrett was talking about beating the 20 and 40 metre records.
They were the perfect runs, he was just in the zone.
Has refused to try them again since!

At the 2002 National AFL Draft Camp he recorded outstanding results, ranking number one in speed over five, 10 and 20 metres (2.83sec for 20 metres) while his measured leap was 102cm - the average being 60cm.
Merrett had the fastest speed recorded with the GPS on Saturday night as well. Just watched the game in full and it amazed me how quick he is for a big man.
Can anyone remember Rusca's jumping ability? I didn't catch much of him live when he was at the club... He must have done alright.

Very interesting.
What's the 3rd one down? Can't make it out.
Alex “with his blond hair and gravity defying aerodynamics” Ruscuklic??
In 108 games with Fitzroy Alex Ruscuklic amassed 189 goals and was the club’s top goalkicker in 1970 with 49. He was also Fitzroy’s leading vote recipient in the 1971 Brownlow Medal with 16, just 5 shy of eventual winner Ian Stewart.
Nah, far to young to remember him...![]()
Nah they'd be talking about Shannon Rusca.
Off the top of the head:
- Very quick NT wilo-the-wisp type.
- 2000-2001ish era
- Reckon he played a couple of games but didn't get a lot of opportunity
- Traded to the Dogs about 2002
- Don't think he played a game from them
- Think he might have done ok in 2000 GF day sprint
