What is Mark Austin like as a player? Have heard next to nothing about him.

Let's rate Gumbleton relatively as a 10/10 for potential talent, then Austin is a 8.5/10; let's rate Gumbleton as a 10/10 for being injury-prone (croc), then Austin is a 7/10. He's had a fair bit of work put into him and he's a good kid who really could show his wares if he had a good run at it (certainly has showed glimpses). Could be better than Tom Williams. Would have liked CFC to have given him one more year, but with the Dogs losing BBBH he just might be worth a punt. Gibbs will be sad to see him gone - great mates from SA.

I am a bit worried Cachia will come back to bite us, in the sense he could flourish elsewhere and show us what he's capable of.

I always thought he really had something to give so it will be interesting to see what happens with him/

Cachia was being developed into a tagger/defensive midfielder. Surprised by that article, because I don't think fitness was his issue. It was more that he struggled to develop the skills/attributes we needed. His attack on the footy was always great, but he wasn't the most agile midfielder, didn't rack up massive numbers, not especially quick, and his disposal stills needs a lot of polishing. Still has a chance, but I reckon he needs to lose a lot of bulk, and do a lot of work on his speed and skills. Always possible he can turn things around, and I hope he does. Getting to a club with a very weak midfield like Essendon is perfect for him. However their track record at developing quality midfielders is poor.

:)

Anyone know what ever happened to that fellow Kite from the Adelaide Crows that was training with is a couple of years ago ?

I really liked the look of Kite when he trained at Carlton, tall and classy disposal. After training with us he decided to play suburban footy.
Big fall from grace.

Wouldn't be adverse to getting Heyne down to the club. Could fill a need as that goalkicking HF that we are missing. Like parrot said, with Hoops retiring and Kerr/Collins not having made that position their own, he could have some impact at Visy Park. I did see a bit of him when he was playing U18 footy, and as Splendini said, he did run hot and cold. But a highly skilled player nonetheless.

It's a yes from me.
Not sure.

Pick 32 in the rookie draft might be a case of overpaying.

Fancy taking a risk on a skilled player in the rookie draft:eek:

Sack Ratts!
