Perrie for Croad??

I have to admit that I'm amazed. The NO response has been overwhelming to date.

Less than 12 months ago We all called for Perrie to be chopped off the list for zero.

He's been pretty good but he'll never be a star. Croad is at least an athlete who can mark and kick. A change of club might just be the thing to realize his undoubted ability.

I'd do it.

I am open to suggestions macca23.

I wouldn't disregard it as easily as some. Obviously there would be a lot of factors that we would have to take into consideration. One thing is for sure. Croad cannot command anywhere near the salary that he does now. 1) he is not earning it 2) we cannot afford it.

He has talent there is no question about that but he is very inconsistent and sometimes looks as if he doesn't give shit about his footy. It would be a big risk but one worth taking if all the prevention plans are put in place. Croad can also be very undisiplined.

In his 1st year at Freo he was inconsistent but still kicked 48(???) goal for the season. I personally see him more as a defender than a forward. If he can become more consistent he could be a perfect replacement for Smart. He would have the speed, agility and athletic ability to beat his opponent and run off to create a lot of run from the backlines.

Definetly worth considering.;)

No way. I'd rather Angwin over Croad.
I wouldn;t fo that far... :o

We don't need a Croad IMO. We have other priority areas to cover. He would only be worth getting if we got him for a steal, which is unlikely.

If we got him for Perrie, IMO that IS a steal.

Who has performed better this year - Perrie or Croad? Croad is an over-rated athelete who doesn't have the passion to play. He should go to the NFL or take up a modelling career. I'll take Sarge any day over Croad, as you know he will give 100%!

That's very ungracious of you.

Even if you do support the trade, its not a nice thing to say about a guy who tries hard and has been very solid for us

Croad is a pretty boy. Don't want him.

Perrie is making the most of his very limited football ability. Outside of being a very good mark his only other assets are his endeavour and athletic ability. Whilst both are admirable qualities, you need more from a player that is key position.
If ever you were going to trade Perrie, this is the year to do it. The writing is already on the wall, with Carey and Stevens in the 22, he plays for Norf.

Croad has had a shocker of a year, for whatever reason(s). But Croad's best has still been a mile in front of where Perrie will ever be. If TC is in the right frame of mind about coming to the Crows and a deal can be made regarding his salary, then this trade is a no-brainer. YOU'D DO IT IN A SECOND! And it wouldn't matter whether he played in defense or up forward. Let's face it, Perrie has only ever looked good this year when he has been the primary target. And who would you rather that be, Carey, Stevens, or Perrie? If Croad plays in defense, then I would move KM to FB and play TC at CHB.

The real question is what will Fremantle take for Croad, I suspect it will be a lot more than just Ian Perrie.

If it's a straight swap, I'd do it, for exactly the same reasons as naughty monkey.

Croad came to Hawthorn as a hyped great hope, a top 3 draft selection. He came to Freo as a hyped great hope, traded for a number 1 draft pick. His next move will be a lot more low key, and he'll come to his next club without the hype, as someone with something to prove, and I reckon he'll finally turn his potential into performance.

Perrie is a terrific worker, but Croad's upside is far better.

Until I read your post, I wondered if I was losing it!! :)

The best of Croad is way past the best of Perrie.

I agree with everything you've said, including your last comment.

I was one of the few that stood by Perrie when everyone else was bagging him and I am proud of wat he has done but being in WA I reckon from what I see of Croad that it would be a winning swap for the crows, Croad CAN play awesome footy at CHF or at CHB which already gives us more flexibility than Perrie and as someone else said earlier on this Board if Croad plays with Carey he is going to improve a heap. SO yes I would take this deal for sure but I really cant see this happening, he will stay at Freo, move back to Melbourne or retire in my opinion, Why would he leave Freo for homesickness only to come to THE MIGHTY CROWS, he still isnt at Melbourne is he.

ANYWAY CARN CROWS BEAT THE LIONS

Jason

I think nothing will come of this because Ayersy is very unlikely to be interested in soft, inconsistent pretty boy that doesn't have a crack at consistent basis.

Having said that I would consider it. Didn'y Ayersy say that we will be looking for a tall defender in trading/drafting period??????? Worth considering but as I said earlier, Croad will cost a lot more than Perrie.

Trading away a hard working achiever for a pretty boy with potential is just madness.
I thought the majority of people to have responded to this thread have rejected macca23's idea.

The amount of loyalty in this thread is good. :)

Maybe you're being tongue in cheek, but I have a massive problem with what you are saying.

Just because I reckon it's a good trade and you don't doesn't make me any less loyal than you are to my club or it's players.

Or should we still be being loyal to the original 52 from 1991?

agreed
Perrie has proved himself this year and he'd leave a big gap if he were traded...

It's 2003... loyalty went out the window when drafts, salary caps and the national competition came into being.

But... if anyone read or remembers my post from page 2 I saw something very very special in Perrie's performance at CHB against WCE. He has the athleticism, aggression, height and strength overhead to play at CHB - and IMO be one of the best in the comp.

If I was the President of one of the Melbourne clubs I'd take Croad in a heartbeat - he's homesick and his head's not in it playing interstate... we DO NOT want Croad at Adelaide.

Tell me you're kidding?!...
I'm exaggerating, not kidding.

Whenever the Dockers had the moment - early first quarter, early third quarter - they were their own worst enemies in not being able to find a marking target up forward. It was basically deliver the ball and hope that Farmer or Medhurst don't get spoiled.

Whether they actually won enough of it in the middle to win the game is debatable.

But Perrie - the man who would've lined up at full forward for WA this year if SOO was still around ;) - would've been a handy target for Fremantle last Friday night.

Of course not.

Its on a judged basis

You show loyalty to people who deserve it. Perrie deserves it

David Gallagher for instance - he didn't

sure its your own opinion, but I think that it shows a lack of faith perhaps is a better word to a player that has done nothing wrong.
