With the year nearly coming to an end, and the National Draft recently completed, it's fair to say this year has been an unbelievable roller coaster ride of emotional fluctuations! With changes in affect, their may or may not be significant changes in our thoughts or perspective (on the players or the club).
From the start of the year, comparing with the now, have there been any changes to your perspective on the team/club?

I'll start with one of the biggest early season debate "Which would you keep? Lever or McGovern?" Initially I preferred Lever as he was much more consistent and did well in most of his games. Once McGovern signed on during the season, and that hanger during the Collingwood drawn game, I started to have a change of viewpoint. Now that Lever is gone, I've locked in my answer "McGovern"!

I thought Lever was a certainty to stay and McGovern would head back to WA.

I thought our midfield would get smashed as the Crouch brothers were just good, average players (especially Matt).

I thought Scott Thompson would play 15 games and be an absolutely liability.

I thought Doedee would take the medium defenders spot and play most weeks.

I had serious concerns over how good Pyke was.

I couldn't imagine a scenario under which Charlie Cameron left the club.

I thought Lever was a certainty to stay and McGovern would head back to WA. Yep, same.

I thought our midfield would get smashed as the Crouch brothers were just good, average players (especially Matt). Thought our midfield would be pretty good this year... then was extremely happy to find that it smashed two of the comps best midfields in GWS and Geelong and showed that going forward it’s is gonna be one of the comps best... this is now been boosted further by the addition of Gibbs... still if we didn’t get gibbs I would’ve been confident we would have an elite midfield next year as the crouch brothers mature even more and a few of the youngsters like gooch and Milera hit their straps.. or midfield is no longer a concern for me... our Defense and run off half back is now, especially without Smithers and lever...

I thought Scott Thompson would play 15 games and be an absolutely liability. Yep, same.

I thought Doedee would take the medium defenders spot and play most weeks. wanted to really see doedee play this year, thought he could’ve come in instead of Keath but Keath did a good job in the end

I had serious concerns over how good Pyke was. To me, Pyke proved how good he was in 2016 but I was a bit disappointed with him at times this year

I couldn't imagine a scenario under which Charlie Cameron left the club.Yep, same.

M Crouch was definitely another big perspective change. I always can see the potential in BCrouch, and nothing surprising since he came second in the AFL Rising Star Award a few years back. MCrouch on the other hand, I previously saw him as a useful contributor and possession accumulator. Now I'm noticing and appreciating much more what he has done this year, and his possessions actually are mostly effective ones. No doubt he would get more attention for next year, so hopefully he can improve further yet still. It'll be a game within a game, to see if MCrouch can outdo himself for total possessions in 2018!

McGovern > Lever. McGovern will be a game changer and expect a huge 2018 from him.

Thought Jake Kelly would be delisted come end of year at the beginning of the year. Still not entirely convinced. If we get Jeremy McGovern hes out.

Thought Jenkins was better than this years output.
Did not expect Menzel to get delisted.
Knew Greenwood was good but not this good.
Had hoped for more from Milera.
Thought Tex would have an AA season. Didnt really deliver.

He was part of the squad of 40, he had a good season.

I didn't think we would get anywhere near the top 2

I was surprised by Kelly

I thought Sauce would have a big year with the third man up being outlawed....which was correct

I though Jenkins would struggle in the finals as he did in 2016....unfortunately I was right there too...he needs to be dropped in September each year no matter how many cherry picking goals he gets during the year.

I thought Walker would have a massive finals campaign....wrong there.

I always believed Lever was going....I was 50/50 on McGovern

I though CEY was going to have a breakout year....and that Otten was going to go from strength to strength once back in the senior team.

I though Richmond would struggle to make the eight....had NO hope of winning a final....and were zero chance to beat us on GF day :( ...ouch.

I thought Lever was a dead cert to stay, was worried about McGovern, but am happy with how it turned out.

I thought Douglas was on his last legs - so now I'll just shift that forward another season!

I thought CC would play in the middle more.

I thought Mrouch would get better, but cripes, not that much!

I thought Menzel would be a 30 goal, regular player, bit of spark. Admittedly that thought died very quickly.

I thought GWS would steam roll us in Rd 1, I thought we'd beat Richmond in the GF- still thought it at quarter time.

How’d you do on the Melbourne cup.
My guess is you had 2 minute noodles for dinner. Lol

My ambivalence towards players that wouldn't sign was replaced with elation that surprised even me when Gov did sign - same ambivalence is now on Sloane.
Sign - don't sign - whatever shall remain my motto however.

Thought we'd have a top 4 year only to to lose to Geelong or Sydney in the Prelim

2017 Expectation exceeded
