COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire has leapt to Nick Maxwell's defence spruiking the former Magpies captain as a future chief executive of the club.
McGuire said Maxwell's leadership role would only increase since handing over the reins to superstar Scott Pendlebury on Tuesday.

Maxwell remains in the Magpies' eight-man leadership group.

"Maxy will be positioned to be CEO one day at Collingwood, that's how good he is," McGuire said.
