Perth Bears

Christchurch should be the 18th team in my opinion.
I would love to see the rivalry between them and the Wahs.

I have an acquaintance involved in RL in the South Island and he assures me NZ will have a 2nd team.

The Ausplay statistics seem bewildering in a number of ways.
Anybody who who knows anything about rugby knows rugby union is so much bigger than rugby league in Perth.
RU WA say they there are 104 rugby union clubs with rugby union bigger in the school system as well.
You see Netball everywhere and most girls seem to play it but only a few boys play basketball but it appears larger in the survey.
You see baseball everywhere in Perth, it's huge. In junior years it's more popular than soccer but dies out as cricket takes over yet it doesn't even appear in this survey.
Field hockey by comparison is almost invisible considering it is played outdoors yet I do know it's popular as WA is the home of Australian field hockey.

There's no advantage in an odd number of teams, even a disadvantage.
They're both going in though - which will leave them odd again.

No one will ever convince me that PNG is anything more than a dirty money grab by that snake oil salesman in charge at the moment. The quicker he's removed, the better off the game will be.

Exactly my point.
There will be one extra game to generate revenue but two extra sides to pay dividend.
so there is pressure to have an even number of teams.
Maybe just another attempt to squeeze maximum leverage in negotiations.

Well, a.t.m. it's all bells and whistles.
The long term effects could be millstone type of legacy.

Ahh

Yeah, he needs to go. He's a moron.

I was wondering why there was so little noise about the western bears proposal in Perth considering the cost involved and poor timing.
Well the Libs have come out in the last two days and attacked the idea on cost and as an example of Cook's folly. They and the city council have attacked a recent suggestion by Cook to turn Perth parkland into a motor racing track at great cost.
Todays' West Australian attacked the Western Bears idea as complete folly considering NRL ratings in Perth hovered around the 6k. Cook is generally seen as completely illogical in his priorities like trying to improve building demand yet not doing anything to cement building construction. He got completely blown out of the water recently when the government was attacked for excessive ambulance "ramping" saying it was the ambulance's fault but the hospital's fault. Even the dumbest people are realising that for all the talk about resource booms taxpayers are not seeing any benefits on the basics.

AFL and its media friends play dirty over NRL’s Western BearsThe Western Bears would deliver a $500 million economic boost over 10 years as the AFL bunkers down for a ‘Wild West War’ amid the NRL’s push for an 18th rugby league franchise in Perth.

AFL NSW/ACT is thrilled to announce the new NSW Facilities Fund to contribute funding towards facility upgrade projects across the state.

LebaneseForces BF rules state you can't post whole articles. Please keep this in mind next time please. This thread is not a pissing contest or a place for childish NRL v AFL trolling. Plenty of other places for that.
