Nick Mrdja’s 44th minute goal was enough to secure Perth Glory a second victory against the visiting Singapore national team.

The Country Sport Enrichment Scheme challenge match in Mandurah had been preceded by a 3-2 win to Glory in Waroona two days earlier.

A more experienced Singapore backline took to the field in Mandurah but Glory still dominated possession without making it pay. Gary Faria, Nick Mrdja and Mark Williams each had chances but were denied by some good keeping or failed to get their efforts on target.

Mrdja finally converted on the verge of half time though he looked suspiciously offside as he broke through before netting.

Glory continued to have most of the ball though Singapore did miss one good chance in the second half. The game attracted around 5000 people, including a noisy Shed contingent and was a good workout for Glory.

The State Government’s Country Sport Enrichment Scheme tour also saw Glory hold coaching clinics with over 500 youngsters from the Peel region during a four day stay.

"These were two great workouts for us," said coach Mich d'Avray. "It was also fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for the game in the Peel region. I'd like to thank all of those who worked so hard in Waroona and Mandurah to make the games so much fun to be part of and of course the State Government for making the tour happen under the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme.
