Howdy all,

Our club is Perth bound for the end of season trip this year, we'll be around on the first weekend in October (afl grand final weekend). Just after some advice for good places to settle into during the day to watch the game with a good crowd, atmosphere, punting facilities etc? We'll be heading back to Vic on the monday so any other good spots to check out would be great, we're thinking of heading down around Fremantle and see where we end up.

Cheers.

No great AFL pubs IMO but the Paddington Ale House in Mount Hawthorn has a great range of beers, quite a few TVs and is a traditional pub. Usually has about 50:50 rugby to afl people but their season is over I believe so should be a good place to watch it.

I don't know of a single pub with a TAB inside the bar, a bit sad.

Fremantle is good for an all day/night session. Little creatures brewery is there and then make your way to the bars.

Hopefully someone has a bit more info for you, good luck.

If you want somewhere with hipsters, w***ers and fit birds with good (and expensive)beers then the Leederville, Casino, Paddo, Inglewood or any other yuppified innercity pub but they get rammed with those types on GF day. More casual places (especially on grand final day) are harder to find in the middle of the city, could be around Freo though, Moonlight Joe's or whatever the hell it's called would be one with a tab and it wouldn't be rammed. Getting in to a major pub with a whole bunch of 20 to 30 lads might be difficult and then there's the overzealous doormen to deal with.

You live in the CBD or just moved here? Jesus every second pub as them, the only ones that don't are the ones that Woolworths etc have taken over and turned in naff yuppy bars.

Sounds like you guys live damn close to me.

Inglewood is pretty decent atmopshere wise.
Went to the paddo last year for the GF, got a tab inside there (I think? Theres one across the road as well) which is pretty cool. Good atmosphere, sucked about the draw though. Heaps of beers on tap, nice ladies etc. I'd recommend, would have liked it even more if it wasn't a draw though.

Been here three years, live inner city (north). Would have been to the majority of pubs near Perth and I can only think of one pub with a TAB inside the bar, I don't think there's much point listing further out ones as they are only here for ~3 days. Let me know the TAB pubs because that's one of the things I miss about pubs.

Ingelwood is my first choice for watching football in perth but thats mainly because it shows everything live (and its close), the pub itself is not in a good location for a night out afterwards (IMO).

You recommend the Paddo then say you don't know a pub with TAB inside - the Paddo has two terminals for betting and tv's with races...

I watched GF 1 last year at the Leederville and that was really good. Lot of people around, half time entertainment, comps and giveaways that sorta thing. I'll probably end up doing that again in 2011

Moondyne Joes was absolutely full for grand final day the times Ive been there for it. I think Freo fans use it as there headquarters for away games
