I was impressed with how the field looked (on TV at least) yesterday for the Weagles.

Loved the purple red and green lighting on the roof, matching in with the historical guernseys!
So I did the Stadium tour on sunday. So I will load photos in batches.
Part 1 - Outside
The train station
Walking out from under Vic Park Drive coming from the train station
These water fountains are everywhere are do dogs, water bottles and people.
The start of the 450m long arbor that runs the length of the south side of the stadium
Eventually the whole canopy will be covered in creeper landscaping
The view from the bus station
And how the bus station becomes a carpark on non-game days
Some of the concrete blocks used to prevent vehicles from entering the pedestrian area
The Nicky Winmar statue in honour of his stand against racism.
The Camfield which is adjacent the Stadium and the largest pub in Australia. It proved to be a popular venue to watch the Eagles game from that was played in Melbourne on the big screen.

Besides from the parklands which is public open space, the Stadium lobby is open on non-game day for access to the City View Restaurant
For Part 2 we will go inside the stadium. For which u can see a model of through a window from outside the stadium
Part 1 - Outside

Lets go in and check out the spectators experience. From the top of the concourse you can walk on in at Level 1.
When you go up to your seats on level three behind the goals there are some obvious LED lights (at the staircase opening in a line) but also some that are a bit more hidden your not as likely to notice (hidden behind the steel beam) which light up the stair case in the home teams colour
Only the areas behind Goals are available on Level 3 to the general public. However we wont go up to Level 3, but instead check out some of the wheelchair accessible spots
Whilst there are standing areas that are great to stop and have a drink or feed which are within the white line marked areas, no tickets are available for standing area only
Access to Level 5 is gained from large staircases or escalators. Level 2, (most of) Level 3 and Level 4 are corporate suites or super rich seats.
However talking about rich areas, there is membership tickets available in the Clubrooms area which the players of the home team run through before and after the game, where spectators get views into the warm up areas.
But the views down here of the game are awesome too
So up on Level 2 is a lot more seating for those who can afford it right in the premium wing location
with separate bars
But up on level 3 you can buy memberships with views into the coaches boxes. But if you come in here you have to hand over your phones to prevent you from online gambling
And finally for us regular fans you can also go to Level 5 for a seat or a bar

So at grass level behind all of the changerooms and other rooms etc there is a one way ring road under the seats
It includes some parking for staff or rich people
So the first set of changerooms are the away teams
Who’s players race use the vehicle access to the field
And just like in the rich peoples spectators seats next to the coaches boxes, you can’t have phones down in the changerooms
But in the changerooms they have lecture rooms including tv’s built into the whiteboards
Freo and Eagles have their own dedicated changerooms
Both the eagles and dockers have associated changerooms for their support staff such as runners/pyshio’s etc which can also be each divided up into a mens and females changeroom by the use of concertina walls which you can see between the screens which allow women to have their own separate showers too
Views from the clubrooms back to the spectators area i showed previously
And as you can see the grass is dead flat, so different to the drainage lump at Subiaco and many other fields
And there is a staircase that provides direct access from the clubrooms up to a non-competing players room, likely used by cricket players who aren’t batting
With coaches boxes up on Level 3 like mentioned previously
The last part will be random stuff up for discussion

I also found this image which I have circled in red the seats that would be added in to increase capacity by 10,000 whilst not impacting the existing structure. Currently the last row of seats is infront of the roof trusses. It means the extra seats may end up with restricted views.

Original...but not the worst idea; it's proved popular in Brisbane.
It is a good idea given they are hardly going to be short of space. CA haven't helped themselves with prices either, GA tickets on the shady side of the ground start at a minimum of $60.
Mental. If they wanted to close off a part of the ground then instead of closing the whole top deck, close the half that's in the sun in the afternoon.

Great stadium to watch football
I miss Friday night games at the waca
Compared to most stadiums in Australia, the food at Optus is haute cuisine.
The stuff in the corporate boxes is genuinely really good.
If season is cancelled they can dig up the surface and fix it
Manual labour, not mechanical, a stimulus measure .....
It appears we can confirm that Optus Stadium when in AFL mode as a capacity of 61,266.
