Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium)

An AFL fan knows what to expect, so does a soccer fan, or attending a F1 practice session

Another meaningless and irrelevant statement in the overall context of discussion.
Australian Rules Football fans obviously know what to expect from a scratch match, amateurs, second tier to AFL.
In the context of "events", which people were discussing, the AFL is trying to create more "events" by providing more than just a game of football.
International soccer friendlies are purely exhibition games IMO and provide absolutely no value to some people.

you are a good example of a fan ....

Who loves Australian Rules Football from juniors, amateurs, second tier, AFL, AFLW and Australian Rules Football overseas.
If if hurts you so much to read about a person who finds no interest in soccer then simply stop reading my posts.
I don't denigrate other sports just sports fans like you that expect me to love English Football.

What could've been for Perth Stadium. I like the design but the location was bad with Subiaco to be demolished during the construction had Alan Carpenter got his way in 2008.

https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov....jor-sports-stadium-for-Western-Australia.aspx Some homes adjacent to the stadium was to be demolished too. Thank goodness these plans didn't eventuate and we ended up with Optus Stadium on the Burswood peninsula

Beautiful stadium.

I still don't understand how it only holds 60k. It looks just as big as the MCG, from the inside and out. The fact that Marvel nearly holds more is so puzzling to me.

Quality over quantity.
Much more comfortable spectator friendly stadium. There are lots more bars and restaurants and outlets, the Riverview room where I go If it rains holds 5,000 easily .Larger seats more space between seats more walkways better access.

It's an amazingly beautiful stadium and there's not a bad seat in the house. My season tickets are in the first row and I've sit in the last row for a final and it was still great viewing. By far my favourite I've been to, Perth>>>>>Marvel>MCG>>>>>>>>>Subi for me.

A lot of the broadcast side in taken up by corporate boxes/media booths. I believe the seats and the spacing are also wider than other stadiums. I wish they built it for 70k with the ability to expand to 80 or 90, but oh well. There's heaps of room for standing room as well if they ever allow it.

Quality over quantity.

Also the Liberal government built it with the idea of return over capacity hence the large corporate boxes row.
The liberal government also thought of the workers with a huge amount of employment needed for each game
over a CBD located venue and simple design like Docklands.
Docklands is easily the best bang for buck stadium but lacks atmosphere, furbishments and capacity.
Perth stadium is the easily the best stadium apart from capacity.
The MCG is great but if it isn't full then the Perth stadium would be better.
.

61,118 for the GF, is a record crowd for an AFL game at Optus Stadium and in WA. Just shy of the 61,266 capacity in footy mode.

Previous was 59,608 which was an Eagles vs Melbourne final in 2018 at Optus. So the Dees now have the top 2 crowds, and 3 of the top 5 (of which two had no WA team).

Just missed out on the record stadium crowd of 61,241 for the 2019 Bledisloe cup which used bump in seating for the rectangle field, which boosts the capacity to 65,000.

Hopefully this won’t be the only Grand Final at this Stadium time we grow up as Football supporters and share the biggest game of the year at different grounds over Australia.
It's the second Grand Final. A-League GF has been at Optus.
