Perth Stadium

Why are those in the west so obsessed with tiers?

First the three tiered stand.... now this?

Might want to cite more than 2 examples to beef up your obsession theory. Still don't know whether the render shows the stadium at its 60 or 80k configuration though which shits me a little, would like a bit more info.

The WAFC should arrange a one off WA vs VIC game to open the new stadium

Australia and the Scorchers will move to the new stadium.

Shield can stay if the WACA wants. Nobody goes to that.

The tests will stay at the WACA. The WACA already crunched the numbers.

Will there be stadium memberships, does anyone know? I really ******* hope not.

Quinz I imagine you'd have to change your location to Booooooooo-rswood.

There was just a resi tower approved for Subi the other day and the council fought tooth and nail for years against it, would love it though but it's not going to happen.

Council is going to be merged

$820m

I guarantee there'll be some sort of Medallion Club style membership

Includes the footbridge, extend train and bus stations etc.

I think the winning team for the design won for one reason and one reason only.

They are called:

Westadium

The inferiority complex is deep in this one.

Add a smaller open stadium in melbourne somewhere, and the stadium map will be complete. Another couple of decades the things will be paid off and the industry wont have to fleece the fans so much( if they are still going that is)

Nice stadium though, looks like other sports events than afl have been compromised and not AFL

This seems like a fairly conservative design, with no elements that haven't already been done elsewhere. Montreal's stadium had that god-awful leaning tower with a retractable kevlar umbrella roof. We won't be trying anything so ambitious.

Yeah it's a pretty boring design, they could've tried doing a square or triangle design just for something different.

every time I see your little boutique it reminds me of all those see-sawed opened lid tin cans polluting the side of your roads - but just like the rustic hues of our new stadium will be symbolic of WA, the empty discarded tin can is symbolic of Geelong ;)

actually I should say aluminium can - more pertinent

Haha, you appear to have a chip on your shoulder bigger than a Kiwi's. So defensive over something that won't be finished for another 3 or 4 years. You really need to lighten up. Pathetic overreaction to a joke.

Pssst, I'll let you in on little secret. Once I've moved back to Perth next year, I'll be looking at memberships to both clubs so I'll finally be able to go to a game at a decent stadium.

Same material they built the Barclay's Centre out of, will look brilliant, just wait.

I don't particularly care what it looks like as long as it's comfortable and properly fit for purpose.

The pictures of the externals do look like the pice of wood I described. They are only pictures after all.

I don't think ours will have to deal with snow, the shifting weight balance problems of snow in blizzards and just normal winds, and the other specialized roof issues they have. At least for a couple of climate change cycles ;)

I agree with you both, I just remembered that case from our 'contracts gone wrong' session at uni :p . I think its a great design, and can't wait to see it in the flesh.

I didn't mean it was boring, just something that was relatively easy to build using proven techniques. Not something they need to do for the first time ever in the world and work out how to do it.

West Coast are going to be locking out the stadium again within a few years.

Oh we'll I'll just give my money to the Dockers then and get a Geelong interstate membership too. Hopefully as some others speculated, they may have some sort of stadium membership / club.
